What's the brand name of the MD8?

Are your speakers powered or not? If they are passive speakers, then you will need a power amp between the mixer's output and the speakers' inputs.

The MD8 was made by Yamaha. Look here . I tried to find you a PDF manual, but no luck.

Well, like I said, if your speakers are passive, they need a power amp (or powered mixer). If they're active, they don't.

Here a paragraph I cut and pasted from the link you sent.

"Monitoring Features
Flexible monitoring capabilites are designed to help simplify recording and mixing operations by letting you hear exactly what you want at all times. You can monitor the MD8 with a pair of stereo headphones plugged into the front-panel PHONES jack, as well as with an external amplifier and speaker system connected to the stereo MONITOR OUT jacks, overall output volume is controlled by the MONITOR LEVEL control. The MONITOR SELECT switches let you hear Group signals, stereo signals received at the 2-TRACK IN jacks (such as a 2-track recorder, external submixer or sampler), the stereo output buss, or the cue signal from the recorder tracks. By using the CUE LEVEL controls for each recorder track you can set up a separate monitor mix, thus leaving all eight mixer output channels open for connecting additional audio sources such as external MIDI instruments."

I see, well either way it's the same process. Take your Main L&R Outputs and send them straight into:

active (powered) monitors.

powered mixer -> passive speakers (not recommended, unless the venue already has that a combo like that system, you can do it).

2 channel power amp -> passive speakers.

It all depends on the speakers, but the mixer does not supply the power.

ok

I think I am figuring stuff out sorry for being so dumb when it comes to theses things the speakers I have are not powered at least I don't think they are does that mean they have actual power cords or battery if they are powered if so then they are not powered I have now run the out put into a amp and it sounds good don't scream but for experimenting I ran them into a stereo kind of amp I know I am sure that is horrible but just experimenting it sounds way god but one slight problem only the one side works not both if that makes sense

Well to be honest, it's a little hard to follow with one long sentence, but I think I followed you. So basically it seems you do have passive speakers (do you know the brand/model number). You're correct, active or powered monitors will have their own power source (and crossover).

By a "stereo kind of amp," do you mean like a home audio reciever? Can you tell me specifically how you are hooking the Peavy up to that, and then from that to the speakers. That will work, but probably doesn't have as much power as a dedicated power amp

I'd be able to answer this question if it made any sense. My suggestion is to go back to school and learn to use the language and its grammar properly.
