Reel deep thoughts...
Not mine, but I looked into this (look down toward the bottom of the list of items):

http://eugene.craigslist.org/msg/1716294500.html

I was extremely tempted, but with the help of a friend I've stepped back from the edge of the horde crevasse.

I've confirmed with the seller that $100 gets you:

  • TWO Fostex Model 20 halftracks
  • A 4030 synchronizer with 4035 controller
  • A 4050 autolocator

All manuals and cables included. I don't know about the condition of the decks or particularly the heads...the gear is reportedly at a consignment shop and the seller apologetically indicated he couldn't get over there to take pictures so buyer beware, yes? But he said all worked the last time they used them awhile ago. MIGHT be a really good deal for somebody that needs an economical halftrack with a backup unit OR maybe two good decks that can be sync'ed for the equivalent of a 1/2" 4-track.

The Model 20 is a nice sounding deck and is unique as it uses 7" reels but operates at up to 15ips AND has a center timecode track. It is relatively portable at 29lbs...14"W x 13.5"H x 8.5"D. Comparably svelte.

Good luck if you chase this one but that's a good deal for $100 if you ask me.

Disclaimer: ain't my fault if'n ya get gypped...

(Deep breath) OK I DO NOT NEED TWO MORE 2-TRACK MACHINES. Lather Rinse Repeat....

But Damn, that is a good deal....(and I could use the 4050...)

Don, I did the same thing...It IS a good deal. Called upon cjacek to talk me out of it and I'm glad I did. I just don't need any of it and have more than I can really handle here already...but MAN that's a lot of neat-o gear for a little dosh...

AUGGHH!!

...where's my soap...! :laughings:
