sine, nice mix. Can't say anymore, as it was an enjoyable tune. Good job.

I'm going to mess with my bass' setup tonight and double-check my intonation. If I find that I'm off, I will retrack my bass and get it posted again.
I pitch-shifted the bass track down 15 cents and it sat much better overall... your intonation may indeed be off though, even shifted down some notes still rang out of tune!

Thanks Bruce. I will definitely check it. I had it set up with my last set of strings, and I figured it would be OK since I changed them out with the exact same thing. Silly me.

I will fix my intonation and retrack. I couldn't live with myself if I don't...

OK.. I'm running late for practice, so that's just testimonial of how much I think you're all so swell... :D

I'm uploading 9 tracks of drums... about 70 megs so give it about an hour...

Link will be:

There's some rough spots (did a full retracking) but I know you all can smooth em out ;)

Gotta run...

:)

You're the man!

I may do something similar (record 5 different basslines, you can pick and choose). Also, my feelings will not be hurt if someone else wants to do the bass line. I am bigger than that.

Before you retrack, let me know what you think of where your bass sits in this mix.

If you retrack, I will have to remix, and I don't think I can make anything any better.

Guess I didn't hear anything wrong. Bad ears or something.

It seems to be sitting ok, but I am at work and listening on Dell speakers!

As far as mixing, if you keep all the levels the same, you should be able to plug a new bass line in there without much of a problem. How much eq'ing did you have to do to the bass? I will check out my bass tonight (so realistically, about 4 hours from now), and if it's something that I can adjust quickly (with just a couple turns of each saddle), then I will retrack the bass tonight. If it's something that is beyond me to corrrect, I will let you know so that someone else can record a bass line while my baby is getting a good going over by a tech...

Oh sure... You say that now...

But you've never heard me play bass....
It's not very pretty...

Yeah, well... I could say the same about my drum playing!

It was an offer to anyone who wants to do it. I am not trying to lay claim to the bass line. But since my bass has developed a problem (I wonder why I never noticed it before? I guess my ears are getting bad) I was putting the offer on the table for someone to run with.

Whoops, here you go:

Very clear mix. Damn I can hear that damn bass out of whack now... I am definitetly going to retrack that damn thing after I get my intonation fixed...

Great mix Ipso!

The vox seemed to be a bit more subdued than where I would have liked to have heard them, but I've been listening to the tracks pretty continuously it seems (working on the drum issues) so Ruth's voice is pretty much engrained in my psyche by now... (and oh what a voice!) :)

Nice job!

:D

Thanks Ed! :) I really liked yours too, the vox reverb was really cool!!

There's the second mix with the new mixed drums:

Thanks! I struggled with what level to place the vox at. I like where they are during the verse but they do get "lost" at times in the chorus. I should have used a gain envelope! :o

BTW, I cheated and did a light distortion guitar track during the choruses for extra dynamic.

P.S. Thanks Dogman, Rokket. Dogman your mix is alright! It's got an "unplugged" sound to it!

I thought maybe you might want to hear how much you guys are helping me with this song. This is the first recording I ever did of this song. It was done maybe a year and a half ago:

It sucks I know! But it rocks now!

Here's a work-in-progress..... if Rokket redoes the bass line, I'll update the mix with it....

And I have to agree with BentRabbit -- great vocals, Ruth!
