Hope this isn't too late. Here is my rendition of this way cool song.

Thanks for giving me the chance to take something like this on. It was fun. I've never worked with that much music!! 6 tracks max before. And the other mixes have been too cool.

Thanx to geet73 for hosting this for me. I wasn't sure where I was going to put it,(in my ass maybe?) but he solved that.

Bob

Never too late! I anticipate more will be coming based on the initial response.

Your mix is another strong contender. I wish I could offer more specific comments, but my ears and body are tired.

Thanx, and thanx for the oportunity to work with such a good song. Good music and very strong voice.
Bob

Wow... whoda thunk? :)

You know, when I did the drum tracks, I was really only viewing it as our starting point... I never thought it would be the final take :D Recorded at 1:00 A.M. in one take with my brand-spanking new (to me) module...
Sorry for the trashy sounds... :(

I've been tinkering with the module since then and may go ahead and redo my tracks... It won't be acoustic drums, but I'm pretty thrilled with some of the sounds this thing is capable of...

The cool thing about this being a collab project (including the subsequent mixes, great job all!) is ANYONE can take the tracks still and add their own to them...

If you wanna add to or replace the drums... go for it! If you want to try and get the song up to 50 guitar tracks... have at her!!!
If you think you ca do a better job than scrubs in singing it... well... Fat chance... I'd like to certainly hear someone TRY to do THAT! But if you can do as good a job with your own voice... let's hear it! :D

Again... great job and major fun/learning experience for all involved...

Oh.. and Bruce?

Wow.... ;)

To me, and in my humble opinion, this far exceeds what I've heard so far. In fact, I want to download this for my CD.
Aw shucks! *shuffles feet* Thanks! :)

Bruce, can you give me a 320 mp3 that I can download?
Yes - I can give you a higher-res version, but I need somewhere to upload it to - I'm running out of room - unless I can email it you directly.

And I want to know what you did to the bass too!
Sorry guys - I can't give away all my secrets!! :p

But I can tell you that little bits of different processing add-up to more than you get by simply running a track through a single processor and expecting it to handle everything... (ie - it isn't just one thing - it's a combination of many things put together - much like EQ... you get better results shaping tracks with incremental changes across the frequency spectrum rather than notching-out chunks at specific spots!)

Here's my take on it..... I used most of the tracks at various points in and out of the mix -- and yes, I purposely only let the backgrounds poke through as colour/texture, rather than as distinct elements in favour of a punchier, less vocal-oriented mix. There's a lot going on and there isn't room for everything! I did approach it with the idea of going for thicker beds, rather than distinct elements.

Very cool tune -- it really screams for some real drums but I really like what everyone came up with... great work to all who were involved in its composition!! And man - great vocals!!!!

Wow, great job. Makes me realize even further how bad I am. Awesome bass, and what did you do to the background vocals?

What do you mean by this? Using less db's in reductions but using a much wider Q?

Thanks! Can you leave it up for a few more hours? I have to get it at home! I don't have an FTP client here at work!
Sure - no problem.... let me know when you've got it!

Incidently, you don't need an FTP client to retreive it - just enter that URL in your browser....

Yeah, I just looked at that, but I can't download it to this pc, it belongs to the government, and that's not allowed!

Hey Rokket! Blue Bear got your bass to sound great! How come you can't get it to sound that good?

I'm joking man! You were the one who got me playing bass again after 18 years. Made my recordings sound so much better. Maybe after I get off my butt and get my new equipment, I can post some stuff.

If it's any of that stuff you were showing me before you left, these guys will be amazed.

Ok, I need to poke my head in here. This mix was done in about an hour or so. It isnt quite perfect but I believe it's pretty close. The drums actually sound pretty damn good to me, at least the way I mixed them. Give 'er a listen.

And Scrubs.....I AM DEFFINATELY still going to do those drums for you man, I've just been more backed up than you would believe, and my places I can record have been really limited.

BTW, PLEASE forgive me if deep linking is not allowed. Don't wanna get in trouble with the Geetster. :D
