Hey, I'm not dead! I'm on vacation.

I don't understand my wife at all. She was so adament that I put all this stuff down and get on with things, but today she lets me buy a Yamaha MG 10/2...

Oh, and here is my mix:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/eddiestoreymusic.htm

You all take it light. I will be back....

He's alive!!!! :D

I'm loving my MG10/2... It's nice to be able to use my condensors with my MR8 if I want to, not to mention how much extra headroom I get with both the MR8 and VF16 using dynamic mics...

Now that you have that little gem, you might have to hold off on that whole silly little 'Merchant Marines' idea eh?

After some thought...

I have a better sounding mix here.

Tried to make it less boomy. Great song, and I did use all the parts in there somewhere. I didn't do much to the vocals, as they sounded good, even acapella.

Hope you enjoy.

I started editing the tracks now....... I have to ask -- what the hell happened to the ac gtr player (acoustic #2) did the hand get tired?!??! Man - I had to edit the rhy back into place about halfway through each section because the timing started to seriously slip! (Or was it a bad file transfer - some sort of weird latency during the audio rendering???)

Same thing with the bass -- either sloppy playing, or serious latency... (what makes me think it's latency is that moving the track 10-20mS corrected the issue uniformly - if it were just sloppy playing then it would only be certain sections that needed tweaking.......)

Might have a mix posted later on.....

I just downloaded the tracks..gonna jump in on this puppy tomorrow! :)

Probably just my bad playing. The acoustic was sort of an afterthought and I think I just did one pass and that was it. Feel free to dump it if it doesn't work for you. Sorry! :(

I won't have time to john in (busy doing post-prduction-sweetening for some movie shorts) but just wanted to say it turned out really great, I was following it in the beginning and wasn't to sure how it would work out, but pleasantly surprised!!! Hope this becomes a more common exercise.

BTW - my compliments to the vocalist... very very nice. Reminds me a lot of a Jethro Tull sound!

SHoudl have a mix up in the next day or two!

Well, here is a rough mix by me - haven't had much time to work on it. I did this version without Ocnors guitars (there was just too many tracks to tackle in the brief time I had :( )

The beggining needs work, and somehow the solo voulme got bumped up a couple db's.

Wow, so many takes on the same song! So is this a contest? Or just for fun?

I can't give up on the merchant marines. The family has to eat. But I can get on here every great once in awhile!
Just not for very long. Got so much to do today. I am just checking in on the mixing.

No worries - that's what editing's for!!! ;)
The problems with the bass (that was my playing) was that there were two different scratch tracks out there at one time, and some confusion as to which one everyone was using. Plus it was an mp3, so there was some latency when you put it in software to record other tracks to. All in all, I'd say that we did a pretty good job considering that it was a first for many of us.
Lesson learned: Don't use mp3's for scratch tracks. Always go with .wav files...

Actually, I think he's running into the same thing we did when trying to synch things up after some folks recorded their parts to the original mp3 scratch track, others recorded along with the revised drumline mp3, and others recorded with the zipped wav files...

But Bruce ID'd what the issues were without us even saying anything.. He's pretty good eh? Stop by the office for a raise...

:D

Hey look... Eddie said the same thing as me.. ;)

Are you working on Guitarhunny's song? She said she was going to send you the drum tracks...

Glad you will still be available!

How 'bout a fun contest?

I'm just doing it for experience... There's going to be other entries that I will drool over I'm sure, so any chance of me expecting to 'win' would be totally naive on my part...

But I will take on all !!!!

A fun contest, and the "WINNER" gets a smiley face from everyone.

For me, this was the chance to mix some of the best recorded music I have ever had the chance of playing with, so MASSIVE experiece, and fun. How could you ever say someone won, when there are endless possibilities for these tracks. Just way cool, and thanks to everyone who participated.

I am going to try and get it down tonight. I can't promise much after that. I am hot and heavy in the retirement mode, so anything I can do will be late at night when the family is asleep. I will sacrifice some sleep to keep a promise. I got the tracks with your drums on them, and I am going to download all of her versions of the song and see how they line up with each other, so I can pick out the clearest one to record my bass to. Her chord changes are pretty fast, so the bass will be simple in comparison, but I can get it pretty chunky.
It'll be the first time using the new mixer!

Available for one more day...

I was just asking. Looks like you win just for participating!

Dude, hope you didn't think I was saying anything about you here, as I wasn't. Just saying this was a fun idea. My home recorded stuff sucks so bad compared to the stuff here, that it was interesting to work with something I had nothing to do with in the recording phase.

If your reply was not meant for me, just disregard.
