Hey,

I've got two songs on my Panther Creek Studios website here in Roanoke, IL. They're both bluegrass. This was done before I used the ART products, and I had a M-Audio Pro I plugged straight into. But I imported some fiddle and mandolin parts from Nashville.

Here's the songs and who is playing:

Randall Collins (N Blake)
Mark Mathewson - lead vocal, guitar
Mark Stoffel - mandolin
Casey Driessen - fiddle
Jill Stargardt - acoustic bass
Doug Knecht - banjo

Waitin' on Ashley (D Knecht)
Doug Knecht - banjo
Ashley Lewis - mandolin
Andy Hatfield - guitar
Ross Sermons - acoustic bass

Thanks for listening!!

Hi Doug,

I checked out Randall Collins, and I think it sounds really good. My only nit would be that the bass sounds maybe a little muddy, but that might be normal for bluegrass, which I don't really listen to, so I'm not familiar with it. Other than that, no complaints, I think the recording sounds great for the style. Nice work!

That acoustic bass was really hard to eq. There's a lot of sound in that muddy range that's not always wanted. It's like, the bass, if fretted from the open E all the way up to the 5th fret (C) on the high G string, goes from about 40hz to about 130hz. But you need to keep some of the treble like 1k and up, at least. So if I had it to do over again I'd take care of some of that 140hz to 1khz sound.

I appreciate your listening to it! Gives me some ideas!

You're one hell of a banjo player.
Are there any percussions on the tracks, cos I couldn't make any out. Some stomping kick drum would fit in nicely. Nice work!

I listened to (and enjoyed) both tracks....Waitin' On Ashley was my favorite of the two. Thanks for posting! I am hoping to learn how to import other instrumentation into some of my songs too....I'd be happy if I could make something sound half this good!

I am not a fan of this style of music.... But that was excellent!!!

I thought things mostly sounded good. Great playing all around. I thought the banjo sounded great.

Lead guitar was a little boomy and muddy. Should be easy to clear up.

Heard some stray noises early in the song. Like a pick hitting the body of a guitar or something like that. Little clicky stuff.
