8-16 ohm amp with 4 ohm monitors

Under the speaker connections on my amplifier it says "8 - 16 ohms resistance". I wanted to use this amp with a pair of Event 20/20's but those are rated at 4 ohms.

Does this mean I have to buy a new amp? Or is it OK to use the 4 ohm speakers even though the print says not to?

Must be an old amplifier? This could overdrive your amp--either heat it up, shut it down or cause distortion in the signal.

you could run mono. If you wire those events in series, the ohm load jumps to 8. (i think...you should confirm that before you do it).. but it'd be mono. but it'd get you by till you get a new amp.
