I have not been here in a while, but I'm back into recording and when this question came up I knew where to go for info. Our band will be using Cubase 6 on 2 computers, one with With Windows XP running 32 bit and the other running Windows 7 at 64 bit. Can we do some scatch tracks on the 64 bit then move the Cubase file to the 32 bit system or the other way around? We will (maybe) start Friday and then start recording live via a firewire mixer New Years Eve.

The CPR files will be transferable. Though, I would just recommend installing C6 32-bit on each, just to be sure. The OS is not the issue. Plugins could be a problem.

As the previous post said, the only thing to worry about is x64 and x86 versions of plugins. I would assume you should just install 32-bit on both, as I am running it that way on Windows 7 64-bit.

Also, don't record at a bit depth higher than 32-bit float. The XP computer will not be able to read them.

Cheers :)
