This is a song of an EP I just finished with a band named 'Colour.' Tell me what you guys think.

It's pretty much set in stone already but I want to know how I can improve in the future.

thanks!

"Input Needed" is only 2 words....OOOOOOOOHHHH, it's the song title, lol.

Hey man, I really can't find anything to bitch about excpet for the fact that it cut off literally in the middle of a phrase at 2:30..."You think it makes you strong I think it makes........" - which was kinda' weird b/c the next tune in my Winamp rotation just happened to be by the Kinks, so I almost didn't even notice the song had changed, lol. :D

But I heard enough to be able to tell that the mix seems really good. Bottom is bouncing, top end's not killing me, I can make out the vocals, I actually like the guitar tone...

How'd you do it? Teach us!!!!

haha sorry about the title i didnt realize that.

thanks for your comments.

shit i didnt realize it cut off there... musta been something wrong with the upload. sorry about that.

everything was done in protools using a digi002.

md421 on snare
Senn e602 and ATM25 on kick
Soundelux u99's as overheads
SP C1 and v67G as room mics

57&421 on guitar cabs

Neumann u47 on bass

C1 on vox

it was my first time using protools. i'm really stoked about it and it's capabilities so i'm upgrading to in the box. I love the mixing capabilities. Waves plugins are the shit too! the L1 is kick ass.

I'll fix that cutoff thing. no criticizm? anyone?

thanks again,
T

Dude this is way too good for me to give you any useful criticism. Like the song , the performance, and the production.

I'm kinda caught between going for an upgrade of my delta 66 sonar 2.2 set-up and investing in the digi 002.... Can I ask you : do you have the Digi 002 rack unit or the little mixing board guy? What kind of PC are you using? How many tracks were you able to run together and at what bit depth sampling rate??

qwincy,
I'm not familiar with the Delta 66, but i'm assuming it has good converters and is a decent unit.
I did this project on someone elses computer... i wanted to test with the in the box systems. It was a Mac G4 with the Digi002 rack, not the little board guy. It only has 4 preamps, but 8 inputs. It's pretty cool.
The only reason i'd see that you want to move up to the protools setup is for compatibility with other systems and studios.
I'm not going the protools route, i'm looking into the MOTU 828 MKII and Sonar 3.0. I've played with sonar and it seems to have just as much stuff as the Protools LE. THe only thing i didnt like about it was the limited key bindings for transport functions... They seem to only have a set amount of keys and key configurations you can use for this. Maybe theres some way around this?

I hope this helps,
T

I was glad to have the chance to be at the SONAR 3.0 "tour" stop here in NYC a couple of weeks ago, and I was very impressed. The lexicon reverb that is built in sounds as good as any I've ever heard, including Waves.

Ahhhh, I'm torn over this. Torn I tell you!!

But thank you for the reply and for sharing the song. Good stuff.

Hi there,

I have nothing to add except praise. Everything sounds really good. I A/B'ed against a commercial CD and yours sounded much of a muchness.

Please post the full track!

:) Q.
