I recently purchashed the 2488 after 7 years with a Roland workstation...

The ability to zone in on precise parts of a track then copy/paste/move-seems to be vague and very imprecise.

On the Roland I could match the sub frames to the bar position in the same screen...not with the 2488

The 2488 doesn't seem to allow any precise copy/paste unless the JOG/Trim feature is used. This feature is not that precise either--and very difficult to understand where in the measure you are

Am I missing Something???

I don't know, it seems to be clocked in thousanths of a second and that should allow for accurate placement.

copy paste problems

I know that the counter offers a good level time break down...the problem I have is matching up the time to the exact down beat of the click track counter...
Does anybody see or understand what I mean??? Am I describing the problem correctly???

Assuming you've established a tempo map in the 2488 that matches your song, from the home screen you can cursor-left to where it says "ABS" and roll the jog wheel to get it to "BAR". Then your time is referenced in bars and beats.

Unfortunately, there is no other visual once you're in jog mode to show you where a beat occurs while you jog, other than to have a recorded click track which you can view as a waveform, then change the track you're jogging at the same point in time to edit the audio of interest.

Jogging is accurate to the subframe level, which works out to be about 1/300th of a second.
