Hi All,

Looking throught Craigs list here in Portland (PDX) I noticed a 16 track 1" and a 24 track 2" otari for sale. If you are interested and in need of such a deck I would be happy to act as a go between.

Otari MX70 1" 16 track deck with remote and DBX - $2000

24 Track Otari Tape Recorder 2" Tape - $3000

I have no interest in these decks and have not seen them etc etc etc

Just search craigs list pdx for otari

That's actually a really good price!

Except for the issue of shipping a beast like that across the country and over the border! :o

There's a local shop about 4 miles away from my house that's selling the same machine for close to double that price but, being a full service shop, they actually offer a warranty with the unit and a fully trained, in house service technician who even makes house calls!

Shop wisely, Grasshoppers. ;)

Cheers! :)

Last week I sold my 3M M-56 1" 8 track. The buyer hired Doug Weeks to come up from Athens GA, check it out, take it back and fix it up. He mentioned that he was kinda hacked off at an Athens studio owner who was selling (and has now sold) another Otari 2" 24-track for $2500. Doug has two of them and was hoping to sell them for $5000 each, but when they're selling at half that price it makes it tough.
