ok i have 2 overhead (b1) mics and a kick mic and a 57 for snare. Now i need some tom mics and floor tom mic probly 3-4 mics maybe high hat mic if i can afford. This said i have 150.00 to spend any idea's of what will work in budget with a decent sound. Im doing metal and want all the drums miced up!!!

I was looking into some 57 clones the gls es-57 but i know its not a real 57 but im in a bind and have a band coming to record real soon any really need to get some mics for drums.

Please any help would be great!!!!!!!!

I'd imagine you could score two real 57s for just about $150.

but i really would like to have 4 mics but atleast 3, 2 57's would be great but id be short on mics to mic up the whole set!! so im looking for alternitive

In microphones, as with anything else, YGWYPF. If you cheap out now you're going to regret it later, and end up buying again.

would 57's be a huge improvement over like these cad's or would it probly be close.... I
own 2 57's now and if i bought 2 more i could probly mic snare and all toms with 57's.

57's good on floor toms??

but i wanted to have my other 57 cleared up for vox or guitar scratch tracks.... so if its not a huge improvement i would like to go with some diff mics so i can free up some of my other mics.

You may want to try using 1 57 per 2 toms. I've used this method to add more punch from the toms. If course, it'll only work if the toms are placed near each other....or in pairs.

Try AT pro25 for the floor tom. They are discontinued now but here's a super deal on them.

nice on floor toms, not so hot on the rack toms. Kind of a "rubbery" sound.

So now you have $90 left. I'd get some cheapo dynamic for your sctratch tracks (this guy comes with a cable if that matters - http://www.8thstreet.com/product.asp?ProductCode=31476&Category=Microphones )

Then, use one of your 2 57's on one tom, and buy another 57. Probably a little over $150, but maybe you can score a used 57.
