Hey ... No Problem , My family is all from NS , Cape breton , and my bass player just mooved to halifax ......

There are a few really cool electronics forums on the net that have a lot of cool projects posted and a lot of famous elecronics designers hang out there , I can send you links if you want to check them out ??

Cheers

Show your gods you love them, buy thier CD's!

Well that explains why yer helping me, them cape brentoners are a very socible people, hard to shut up too, i worked at NS power durning shutdowns, and damn them boiler makers can talk. i was doing confined space hole watch, < a shitty job, but lots of time for song wrighting, and i made a 100 ft rope out of braided rags> cape brentoners are one of the last truly friendly people in north america, maybe the world.

damn bass players!@#! their hard to find, and keep. our band is looking for one now, again. is he still your bass player? probably to cool for our band anyway. does he like to play nice fat rockabilly bass walks?
what style of music do you play?

dang right i want to check um out, this is the only forum site im signed up for at the moment, not that i woodn't use others, theres just so many, and this site has been good to me so far. <im a bit of a loyalist> i fixed my crapy behringer mixer i got off ebay <broken 60$> an old amp <fame series bass 50> that i havent used in years <who knew a tone pot could cause faze>, and figured out the the buzz i was getting from my Ds-1 was from a speaker cable, you have no idea how long i have been using that cable, and im not going to tell you. as well as many valuable gear saving tips, like 20watts is too much power to plug into a mxer and a speaker works like a resister in your amp, dont turn your amp on without it.

When im rich and famous i'll pay my dues, you have my word.

what i really need right know is a beginners guide to audio electronics, i got a link for a book " Craig Anderton Electronic Projects For Musicians " someone gave me but its too big for my modem to download in a day... i'll buy it when my incometax comes back, i perfer books to digital media, its more real. just like i still buy CD's, i dont know anyone else who does... cheep bastards...if you care about a band you better buy their freaking CD's!!! or they will beat you to death with their gear that they still owe money on!

i know i got alot to say, trust me i deleted much. sorry for waisting peoples time with non-10watt amp, based words.

i still havent found that other crapy amp, i started ripping apart old broken home stereo equiptment and lost it in the pile of guts, i think. its probably friged anyway, i found it in the ditch after all. i like junk, you should see my barn. the stuff people throw away.... junk day is my favorite holy day. <month>
k i better shut up now, or im gunna get in trouble.

Peace man, later.

Hey , well here is a few links to some cool electronics forums and sites ....

This one "Gearsluts" is a lot like this site and has a Electronics forum called "GeekSluts" ...

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/

This one is cool ... all to do with DIY audio, different Forums from tubes to solid state and Chip amps , Class D , Speakers ect...

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/

This one is all about makeing Effects pedals , even tube effects pedals , Lots of good info , they have a store were you can order parts from and a forum with literally hundreds of different projects ....

http://www.diystompboxes.com/wpress/

This site has a lot of cool Effect pedal kits and some schematics and Layout designs ..

http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/

That should get you started ....

our Bass player ? well he was in the Navy out here getting sonar Training and got sent back to halifax after a year , he was cool but like our 5th Bass Player in 2 years , had bad luck with Bass Players but now we got a kick ass bass player who is also an awesome drummer and lets me use his $8000 custom built DW Kit when we jam , makes me realize how crappy by kit is .....

Ohh , By the way you can turn on a an amp without a speaker attached as long as it is a solid state amp , Tube amps need to have a load connected to the output transformer ......

Anyways , I"ll talk to you later .... Cheers

Revive a dead thread....

Howdy fellas. Another Canuck here! (won't tell you my "in the middle" province or, you won't help me...)

Found this thread in a g**gle search. A buddy has brought me "most of" a studio 10s to repair...

Curious if you're still here and, can help. I have the case with speaker, the metal with circuit board and, little else. I have found the schematic (from Gibson) and, it shows a transformer....doesn't seem to be one with what I have.

Tremaine, if it's no problem, could you please confirm:

AC goes to transformer then the 3 leads connect to the PCB (similar connection to PC cooling fans)? I can see some holes on the top of the metal bracket (same side as on/off switch) where, I'm guessing, the transformer should be located.

For what it's worth, if you still have your's, there is a +10v and, a -10v (I suspect the 3rd is "earth") listed on the schematic...found here:
