Ok, so my friend is buying a car stereo amplifier which I don't use anymore for $100 from me and I automatically started thinking of things to blow that money on. I've never really had a "cheap-o" condensor, so I figured since I hear a lot about MXL mics, I have some free cash to spend on one. Sam Ash has the MXL2006, looks like a good one to get, any thoughts? Just to clarify also...it says Marshall (as in the guitar amp maker) Electronics MXL...thats the same thing right? Because some places say MXL, other places say Marshall Electronics, and some say Marshall/MXL...so I'm confused. Anyway, please respond soon if you think I should get it, since I will be going tomorrow to buy it. Cheers.

Ok either the 2006 or the 990, which is even cheaper....I want to do vocals with it. MAYBE some acoustic guitar, but not going to get my hopes up. The call is up to you guys, doesn't matter to me, and I don't know anything about them so...jea. If no response I'll go for the 2006 if they have it. Hoopah.

If you're starting out, do the mxl 990/991 package on musicians friend for 99... you can maybe talk them down to less at a guitar center. Anyways, the 990 will do fair on vocals and 991 should do well on acoustics. You can read about them all over these forums.

Have you looked at the mxlV67G? It's 99.00 and I like it a little better then my Studio Projects C1 for 199.00.

Marshal Electronics/MXL - completely different company from Marshall of amp fame.

Don't know what your use is for the mic, but if you want a MXL for voice I'd go with the V67. For instruments +/-voice, I'd try the 990/991 package. I don't like the 990 (though some people do) and have modified mine, and have no experience with the 991, but for the price...

So just to clarify.....

The V67G is the best vocal/acoustic guitar mic for the price range from them then? Lemme know.

Alright, after reading some other posts here, I want to throw that Studio Projects B1 in there.

So, for the money, and applicability to vocals and acoustic guitar, which one of these?:

MXL 990
MXL V67G
Studio Projects B1

Weee.

Hmm, well not really... I prefer the MXL603S for acoustic gtr and and the V67G for vox.

You're most likely going to get many opinions... but, out of those 3 three mics I'd get the V67G.

I'd say of the ones listed ... the 990 is the closest thing to a real mic.

I have heard great things about the V67G on vocals. Some people even use it as a drum overhead.
