$10 DIY Wall Mounts for your Owens-Corning-703 Acoustic Panels

Well, Mr DIY is at it again. :eek:

I designed and built some OC-703 acoustic panel wall mounts for less than $10 each using (oak-faced) 1/2 inch plywood, a 2"X4", some screws, 2 hanging brackets, 4 felt adhesive pads and 4 angle braces.
It brings the (self-covered) 2" OC-703 Acoustic Panel 4-1/2 inches away from the wall with a bare minimum of the panel being blocked, front or back.

It's not Rocket Science but it seems to work. :)

Cool. I like it. My only gripe is strictly aesthetic - I think it would be nice if the brackets on the front were behind the cloth, somehow, or at the least, spray painted black. I just don't like the look of the steel brackets on the front. But the idea is very nice, as is the price.

Edit - why the full sized piece of plywood? it seems you could just have a strip at the top and a strip at the bottom. And depending on your walls, you could just screw directly through the plywood to anchor them firmly in the walls, eliminating the need for the hanging brackets.

Yeah, ya can't beat the price.
I will spray paint the entire unit(s) once the weather gets a little nicer so I can do it outside.
The plywood is actually a length-wise half of a 2ft X 4ft piece.
I designed it like that with a sense of mobility in mind.
Plus not everyone has the capacity to screw a lot of things into their walls ie those that rent or lease.
