Understood. I've had things like my email running, etc. when recording - or closed down apps just before recording. Unfortunately, I have only begun documenting when things might have been happening.
However, I also wonder the impact the effect of the line conditioner. My PC, m-audio device...
I'm using Samplitude SE (Magix, Music Studio Pro 14) but have experienced it with Audacity as well. I've had it happen with my current firewire interface and a USB microphone.
XP Pro, Pentium III, 2 GB Ram.
I asked another sound engineer I was referred to and he suggested, for sure, to kill...
I posted a question that had no responses a few days ago. About clicking or popping sounds in my recordings and whether PC processor could be a culprit.

I rediscovered this forum yesterday - after signing up last year. See question on Newbies about clicks and pops.. ;)
I've been writing songs for years - put off pursuing it while consulting, having kids, etc. A couple years ago my oldest kids kept urging me to get my music "out there."

I am recording using Samplitude SE (Music Studio 14).
No complaints - I am just beginning to understand - well use extra features in the MIDI editor (like sustain, volume, and a myriad of other effects). I am considering taking a look at Reaper.
The only problem I am having is that...
I am new to recording, have learned a lot about both the software and getting a decent recording - plus when/where to add various effects and filters. However, I ran into this problem recently.
I was recording my acoustic guitar, finger picking style, so quieter than when using a pick, and...
