$1,000 is burning a hole in my pocket

Thanks for the help guys, I'm sorry I've been away from the computer for so long. The $1,000 bucks was a christmas bonus and I'm going to look into the stuff you guys suggested. Thanks again for the help. P.S. for the record I already have about 10 lava lamps. I keep finding them at goodwill...

$1,000 is burning a hole in my pocket

Hey guys, I used to post here a lot but work has finally caught up with me and my spare time has really taken a beating. To make a long story shorter . . . . I was hanging out with some friends when somebody starting playing a cd he had made using cool edit pro (varisity edition). I was...

Electric Guitar Strings that don't lose their bang (for awhile at least)?

I like S.I.T. I know they're a "cheaper" brand, I've tried a lot of different brands and IMO there's better than most. They hold up really well, and they sound good. I almost NEVER have to replace strings. (I play very aggresive and I use .10's) They are definately worth atleast trying. :)

    Drum micing with one track

I use this and couldn't be more happy with it. :D I only have one track too. What I do is mix the 3 mics on my board and run a line out of the board into the input of the 8 track recorder. That way all 3 mics are being recording on just one track. It work GREAT!!!! The only downside is that...

Shopping around for an older acoustic...

The shop I used to work out sold "Seagull" guitars. Most sold new for under 500. They seemed kind of narrow at the nut, but other than that I think they were great guitars. They might be a canidate on your search. :) (Especially if you prefer a narrower nut). Just as personal information that...

The "BlowMeAndKissMyAss" 2005 Award goes to

I think this whole thing kind of got out of control. There's two sides to every story there's my side, your side, and the truth. I'm not calling any here liar though. Just to throw another example out.... I'm having problem with my cell phone. My cell phone company said that it would be...

Shopping around for an older acoustic...

Mine was only 200 brand new. I've about played the frets off of it. 90% of the songs I've written were written on that guitar. I couldn't be happier with it. It's no Martin, but I think it's wonderful.

Shopping around for an older acoustic...

I think Sigma (martin's "squire") makes wonderful guitars for the money. I couldn't be happier with the way mine sounds. It's not your jangley sound like a taylor, but for what it is (a cheap martin) it's wonderful. Just my 2 cents. :D

    Old Yamaha bass amp

You could always just reuse the speaker and cab and make some sort of cool amp out of it. I'm dying to make one of these. http://www.guytronix.com/pages/1/index.htm

    Finger size

LOL I'm about 6' 3" or 4" and most of my guitars have 19" scale lengths. Just goes to show ya.........

    Finger size

I collect minis and I know a mini collector that's actually is a "little person". (I think that's politically correct). And he's much more comfortable playing a mini that a full sized guitar. I think the size of your hands does matter to a certain extent but not much..... Unless you're actually...

    Layer tracking???

My tascam dp-01 cost about 300 bucks new. It can record up to 8 tracks. Then I can bounce thoose tracks down to just one track (so techincally I could record up to 64 tracks). Generally what I do is record 6 tracks and then bounce thoose down to 2 stero tracks then I can record 4 more and...

    Same Question...

I couldn't agree more...... with the above poster...... If you send too much low end to your marshall cab you can kiss thoose speakers goodbye. I don't mean to put you down or anything like that. If you really want more low end get one of dimebag darrells signature cabs (they're made by...

    Does anyone actually 'practice' anymore?

A dvd huh..... Where can you buy it? I actually learned bare chords and finger picking from some video tapes my cousin gave me. (He's a bluegrass guy, and totally awesome at what he does). I think thoose videos were called "happy tram" or something like that....

Ovation Thunderhead Deluxe hollow body electric, need info

We had a nice ovation come through the shop one time. I think it sold for about 600, but I'm not sure if it was the exact model that you have. Do you have a picture of the guitar? You might also want to try one of thoose "guitar blue books" or do a search on ebay for "completed" listings. That...

    Does anyone actually 'practice' anymore?

I feel your pain. I do record some of my best stuff, listen to it 6 months later and start trying to figure out how to play it again.

Metalcore Bands and Gibson SG guitars

:D Lol. Yeah if they wanted to play a les paul they'd have to eat something. :D Seriously though I hate them too. I play metal but I'll be damned if I'm to get a girls haircut, dye my hair black, wear a youth large t-shirt, and tight girl jeans. I guess I'm not as cool as thoose guys. :cool...

    Does anyone actually 'practice' anymore?

I practice but generally my practice is just brainstorming. If that makes sense....... When you practiced wanking all the time what scales did you work on? I've always wanted to learn how to wank, does anybody have any advice on good stuff to practice?
