Tried to mix electronic and hard rock and here is the outcome - "December"

Great song. Great songwriting. Great pop vocal. My ears aren't very good, but my punters impression is you could improve this a lot by introducing a bit more dynamics to most of the parts (less compression?), so everything isn't up front in your face all the time. Alongside that take of some...

Hi there. Thanks to you all for your listens critiques, feedback, and good wishes. And for my new friends on myspace. Really good to hear your reviews. Interesting to see what works best for different people. So thanks heaps for those details. People do stuff like this for many reasons...

Entire Album available for free download

Hi Guys. Thanks for your replies. Good to hear from some old faces. Yes. Unfortunately the “limited time” thing sounds like what I guess you’re implying, but actually is a limitation of using “sendspace”. I haven’t got money for this project (well actually, I just haven’t got money), so I’m...

reduced Romantics - fill the space Hi All I know this isn't the norm...but since I started out learning how to make music here, and was inspired by many of the homebrew artists on this site, I thought I'd share my last year's efforts with you. My project's name is "reduced Romantics", and...

13 YR OLD SINGER… no, really

That sound's GREAT! Awesome performance. And I love the recording. I'd just try to kill a bit of the hiss (which doesn't sound the same vintage as the rest), or process the track in some way to disguise the hiss so that it's more in keeping with the rest of the recording: eg. overlay with...

    New Age Celtic

That is a nice song. It does sound like it's gonna be a tricky one to mix. It's really hard to hear what's going on. I'd want to strip out everything except the percussion and vocals and get that sounding right before adding those synths. There is some serious competition for sonic space...

Nowhere to Run - feedback please

Hey ido, another live cracker! I'd love to have those live drums. And the arrangement and performance sounds awesome. Adding to what the others have said, on my system it sounds as if the guitars overwhelm the rest. If you took them back a notch the vox and drum levels might fall more into...

    Some New Punk/Indie Stuff

Hi Kylo Great song. Love it! My first reaction is that the drums are low in level and distant. Need some tweaking up, and perhaps less reverb. Vox are nice and clear. They could do with doubling or introducing some harmony backing for the "Here we go again" bits. Definitely gets an...

    Looking for some comments

Hi tartans Great to hear something new from you two. Good tune and arrangement. But I'm gonna be super critical...because I like your stuff, and know you are pros so can make something useful of it. It would be perfect if you could -- somehow -- make it less "whiney". Especially the first...

Colab - Need vocals for The Thrill is Gone track

I agree. Get True's voice up there where it can cream that track. Great stuff. Dogman: you have such a mean sounding voice for such a nice guy! Also classic stuff.

    Justice for The People

Nice song gummble. Good timing with old Bob D prominant right now (in all the record stores over here in the UK anyway). Great vocal song. I like it just as it is. Good luck with your album. aspiring

new mix of pop/rock song please comment

I agree. Great tune. And the tempo-change end is refreshing. I can never really be sure about mix issues on my current set-up, which is just my work pc speakers. But for what it's worth, on this system the lead vocals don't quite blend with the rest of the song. A tiny bit more reverb, or...

    synth + yelling

Great deviation from the norm. Cool stuff. And the thread title is a good name for the album :) I guess it could really need some other parts to complete the sonic space. But I like it as it is. And oddly, I was doodling around something like that myself on my micron just last night...

    The Greatest Song Not Written

Yeah, that's a really nice song Steve. Ideally, the vocals do sound like they need some work. They sound a bit like they're almost distorting or something. But the performance is great. So... Thanks for the listen. aspiring

My friends band acoustic with piano. CHECK IT OUT!

Not a bad song. Everything sounds a bit tiny though. It doesn't have much bottom end. If there isn't going to be any bass instruments, I'd open up the bottom end of the present vocals and instruments to fill it out more. Otherwise cool work. Cheers aspiring

    Your comments are welcome!

Nice sounds floralis. It's probably my crappy mid-range work PC speakers, but...the lead sounds overwhelm the rest ever-so-slightly in Freedom; Clear light seems better balanced. But they are very cool sounds, so it doesn't really matter. Well worth finishing them :) aspiring

    ODD EMAIL - Any sitings?

ah, yes, but most people here in London can come up with better English than that email -- especially, when it is for professional purposes. And they usually know their postcode better than their name :)

    ODD EMAIL - Any sitings?

Hi Ray I'm here in London. That postcode sounds fake. So I typed it into an online Multimap (that works all over Europe) -- and the answer is..."Postcode not recognised". The street name exists. So I reckon something's up, and I doubt it'd be your bank balance :) aspiring

Mp3 results of 1 year mixing on headphones

Brilliant Chris. Love your energy -- and attitude. Vocals could have been brought out more in most of those mixes. But hey, you've got years up your sleeve to sort that out. And I've heard zillions of clearer mixes, commercial or not, with far less heart. Good luck. aspiring
