BritPop: Vox processing?

Hi. I've been trying to reverse engineer certain BritPop Vox to try to get similar effects. Is anyone familiar with the "Feeder" lead Vox sound on "Yesterday went too soon" (the song off the album of the same name)? There are many other similar vocal sounds on albums of similar bands such as "The Stereophonics". For the North Americans: Ryan Adams can sometimes also sound this way.

It's a "full" vox -- husky but breathy -- in a sparce distorted guitar mix (initially), and it sounds heavily processed. Lots of compression, EQ and reverb, although I can't hear a long tail. It doesn't sound doubled (in the intro verse anyway). But I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm just trying to listen for the techniques I read about.

Or perhaps this kind of processing is done with some kind of specialized vocal enhancer or something?

Can anybody with more experience comment more specifically on how to achieve this kind of effect? (Sorry it's such an obscure song.)

Thanks
