Howdy Folks...it's been a few years since I last posted on this board. It's been about that long since I've done a song, and it seems like life just keeps getting in the way.
Anyway, I recorded this song but need help figuring out how to make the vocals fit, they just aren't.
Any help would be...
I just wanted to say...
Spend more on monitors and room treatment.
My mixes are night and day now. I spent $60 on fiberglass for room treatment and $200 for a pair of EMU PM5s (they were on sale from GC). I couldn't have bought a decent microphone for that. But the sounds I am getting are so...
Hey guys, I've recorded an intro for my podcast.
www.soundclick.com/seanscogin
The song is the first called adblog intro.
Can you guys check it out and see what it needs? i have mixed to perfection on my speakers, but they aren't monitors. I've exhausted all my headphones, and it sounds...
I am a noob, dont do any serious stuff ever, but I was wondering. When is it worth it to invest in monitors. I've seen monitors for 99.99 per pair, and I know they just go up from there (as does everything in music equipment). I mean, would it be worth it to buy a $200 pair of monitors, or is...
I dont know what the deal is, but I am totally confused as to how this works.
I have done searches here, on tweakz, and other places, and still don't understand the effects thing on my mixer (Behri UB1202).
What kind of things would I plug into the effects (would a stomp box work, or are we...
Can anyone recommend a good guitar learning software? I don't have the time nor the money to take lessons, so I wanted to have some guided exercises on the compy.
I'm more intermediate (rythm guitarist with limited knowledge of chords, no chops) than beginner.

basically, what I wanted to know, is how do you correctly incorporate a subwoofer into your system? How loud is it supposed to be as opposed to your monitors?
Hey guys,

Track is Here I go again.
My real questions here are:
Does anyone have any suggestions for mixing the backing vocals? I have found this to be a daunting task, one with which I am not satisfied. All i did to distinguish it was cut the high end out, put...
I'm a little confused. I have a condesnser mic (CAD 195) that uses phantom power, but looks like a regular micropone (as in, live vocal mics).
I was looking at other mics (because im not happy with the results of vocal tracking) and most vocal condesor mics have a huge front, a crazy shock...
Hey there ladies and germs.
I love this forum; let me say that first and foremost. I also love recording, whether it be at home or in the studio.
I also love advertising and marketing, and you can tell that because I graduated from college with a degree in advertising/public relations. I also...
Can we make a sticky of the "How do I monitor in CEP/AA?"
I know I had that question, and I've seen it a few times since then (actually, there are a couple threads right now.
Just thought it might help us noobs navigate the forums a bit easier.

Is it possible to use regular home theater bookshelf speakers as monitors?
I have a receiver with a 5 band eq on it, and I was wondering if I could offset the regular V curve of the speakers by using that EQ, thereby flattening the sound itself?
Or can anyone recommend speakers that have a...
Please check out my updated versions of Stuck With MTV and I Try.
These have been remixed, so please give me feedback about the quality, as well as comments on the songs themselves.

I think I am ready to take the next step in my homerecording advernture. I want to buy a compressor for vocals. But first, I have a few questions for you guys, which will probably flame me to a crisp, but I have to ask. The search function yielded only higher level answers, so yes, I did try...
OK, a couple of questions about EQ.
First, how high is too high. Is boosting the eq by 3 high? or 30? Is there a standard limit that i should never go over.
Second, are there any EQ level standards that I can at least start out? i.e. Vocal levels should have the high-end boosted, acoustic...
New Song - I Try
I am getting pretty burnt out on this. Did this one, as always, in just a few hours. Trying to get the sibilance out of the vox, but I am having the damdest time.
Any thoughts?
Also, feel free to comment on the song, the lyrics, whatever. I always like criticism...
When I'm tracking in AA1.5, I can't hear what I'm playing. This really throws my singing off since I can't hear whether I'm on key or not. I have to wait until playback to see if i did well or not. Anybody know how to combat this?
Thanks,
Sean
Does anyone know of a website or something that would have tracks to mix against? I'm not talking about mixing against a finished master, but dry tracks, to get the recording right (guitar, drum, bass, synth, etc.). I dunno, thought i would put it out there.

Ok, when i listen to good, professional mixes, it sounds to me like the song is pushed back (sonically) like 1 foot away from the speakers. I don't know if that makes any sense to any of you, but when i listen to the stuff I mixed, it sounds like its right on top of the speakers. Does anyone...

The song is Stuck with MTV
My question is, why can't i get my vocals to sound deeper. I am using a cad c195 condesor with another omnidirectional about 5 feet away (which i was told can help capture timbre)
The low end is turned up up up on the vocal track, but...
