Most versatile AND\OR brutal guitar amplifier

What do you think is the most versatile AND\OR brutal guitar amplifier out there now? Keep in mind these are STOCK amps and not modified ones. What are some of the things that you think make it versatile. As far as brutal goes, I have the Bogner Uberschall in mind. It seems to produce a...

    Samples Per Buffer?

I have a Terratec EWS 24/96 Mastering sound card with ASIO drivers... Could anyone explain what difference in quality lower samples per buffer are than higher samples per buffer are? All I know is that the higher the sample per buffer, the higher the latency - it makes sense but I'd just like...

    Multiple Input Sources:Sync

I'm replacing a Behringer "24 channel" - yeah, TECHNICALLY 24 channels- mixer for a Mackie 1604vls 16 channel mixer (with 16xlr inputs). The pres in my Behringer are pretty thin sounding. I also found out that there is a terrible latency to the components that are involved in the board...

Clipping problem after exporting with Sonar

I can get a really decent recording with Sonar. After mixing down a few guitar tracks, I can get my levels up pretty decently. After I'm satisfied, I export the mixed down audio to a .WAV file. I open it to play in Windows Media Player and (unless I have the eq either off or completely FLAT) it...

    *Mastering* using Optical audio transfer?

Even though I find using all digital paths for recording causes the quality of the produced recording to sort of miss something. That's why I like to use alot of analog signal paths in my "home recording studio". I really like to intergrade teh digital and analog mediums of recording, that way...

    Are compressors overrated?

I believe that compression is overused in studios now a days; everyone's competing to have the loudest and most "ready for airplay" mixes. Even with the most advanced transparent compressors, the act of compression will morph the dynamics of a recorded song, something that I want little to do...

    *carvin Custom Guitars*

I like Carvin gutiars alot. Honestly, I think theyre the best. They started out as just making guitar pickups, but now look where they are. Aside from guitars, their equipment is well built. Any equipment that Carvin has made that I delt with is very durable, heavy duty, and reliable. Their...

Direct Pro 24/96 Not working with XP

I bought a used Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 a while ago for my computer but its the original and only has the 95\98 drivers. The drivers will not work with XP. Just to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the unit itself, I installed it on my 233mhz Win 98 PC, and it works fine. However, I...

Having Software Sync With the VS-series Via MIDI

I've been reading that soundcards that provide a MIDI port can be linked with the VS-1824 so that a software program such as Cakewalk programs can be used to sync both the software and VS's play\record. However, the manual only tells me so much about Cakewalk (about 3 paragraphs), and I was...

Optical Out\In opposed to Analog Out\In *Mixers*

Mixers with analog outs compared to mixers with digital outs. What's the digital connection doing that's so much better than a simple quarter inch\XLR\or RCA connection? All I hear is that digital connection is alot better, but I like elaboration. Anyone?

Recording levels on the VS 1824CD

I get all my levels up when recording, but its STILL quiet when playing back and when I create a CD. Is there any ways to bring levels up when mixing? I've owned this for about 3 months and its alot to learn. Thanks.
