Generally, on the 1824, I track at somewhere between -12 and -4db. When you mix down (Roland puts on airs and calls it "mastering"), track at about
-4db. You can boost the level as much as you need to with the master fader, but if you track with peaks significantly over 0db, you will clip. Then burn to CD. It should be plenty loud. I think you will hsve your best luck if you keep the initial tracks with peaks at -4db or so, and add whatever gain you need when you mix down. Even if you are only doing 2 tracks, mix it to virtual tracks 17-16 and 18-16 anyway. This will allow you to set the overall gain for the final mix, and- When you mix down, make sure the CDR/Rec mode is "on", so it won't take lots of time converting every time you burn. -Richie
