Grip I like this question because it brings out a lot of Info. Matched or traditional? I like switched grip.(don't know if their is such a thing it sounded cool ) :) Seriously,I'm sure someone out there will differ but................... I have to play matched because I'm learning mallet...

Interesting ? It depends on what you want. I prefer the actual drum head design by Remo(it can be tightened) It sounds cool too! Some people prefer the Gel style. I say use a Magazine, it will build better chops :)

The part of pissing off your neighbors I think is very important! I fortunately live on a 5 acre parcel so I dont have the problem with ordinance. Though I have cranked up to 120db late at night and haven't attracted the local police. :eek: My room is 12x14 which is big enough for a monster kit...

Hey, if they work It would be much of a relief. I've used the AKG 418 series and cried like a baby when it got broke. I like my friends Audix set but I would rather break a 57 :p

Stands Yeah true,but with 4 rack toms it becomes cumbersome.

I'm looking for some tom mic mounts that will hold sm57's and will not move!!!!!! I've tried two different ones and they just piss me off@#@!#!$)(!! :mad:

Bottom Mics I would make note of what circumstances were present, What type of wood, how they were tuned? Now I hear my toms differently from when I sit and play v.s. sitting and listening to them. They sound flat when I'm in front of them. Personally I like to capture toms with top mics...

Has anybody used an NT4 for a room mic? It's a cool Idea, but I'm wondering how durable they are.

Nice Job I think the recording sounds pretty good given what your working with. I would focus on a room mic.Maybe stereo pair,.... The only problem I have with it is the snare. I'd muffle it just a hair and tune up the toms a little. Other than that, you play like a good Jazz Drummer !

If you want another ride then I would go with a crash/ride but thats more for Jazz. I agree with Mr.Brown in getting a med.thin or even a thin A.(not custom) But dont listen to me ....I've been trying to match a 16" med thin.with different 18"s! Maybe one of these years. :D

Thats awesome My original kit has two bass drums that the serial #s are real close. Maybe I'll take up 4 channels, Two triggers and two mics. :p
