    Upgrade Time

Hey guys. Looks like it's time for me to upgrade my recording PC again. My current setup is a P4 2.5Ghz with a Tascam FW-1884 which has been working well for me. The only reason I would be upgrading is because someone will be buying the old PC from me and I'll basically only have to dish out...

    My New Room

Hey everyone. I think I'm finally, almost, mostly done with my new room. :) Thought I'd post some pics of my new desk, floor and wall treatments The first is a pic of my new desk. It's a Middle Atlantic. I laughed a bit when I got it because it's almost 4" lower to the ground than my old...

    On The Floor

Hey guys. I hope no one minds me posting this over here as I also posted it over at the other site. I got some great advice over there. So this tune is about a stripper.Written and sung by a friend of mine. It's very Stones influenced as I'm sure you'll be able to tell and it's still missing a...

    How Stupid is this ?

After reading through all the great info here and at Ethan's FAQ page I decided to try and find OC to build myself some wall treatments. After calling several local suppliers from the list that I received from OC themselves I was pretty frustrated to find out that no one even knew what OC703 or...

    Yamaha Buys Steinberg

http://www.pinnaclesys.com/aboutus/PR/News.asp?NewsID=3753&Langue_ID=7 I said this somewhere else, but I've been waiting for native support for the Tascam 1884 in Cubase for a year now. Seeing as the Yamaha 01x is in direct competition with the 1884, how much longer do you think I'll be waiting ?

Can this be used for Bass Traps ?

Just curious if this mineral wool can be mounted on plywood and covered with cloth to hang in corners as bass traps. Everything I've read so far indicates that rigid wool should be used. This stuff is about 3.5 " thick but isn't rigid.... http://www.roxul.com/sw47802.asp Thanks for your help ...

Hey guys. A while back I saw a link in here to some desk designs but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where that link is ? I think Michael Jones and Track Rat had some pictures of their desks in there if that helps jog anyones memories. Thanks ! Dave

What to do with this one ?

I've been working on this tune and I have to admit that I'm not sure what to do next. Should I try to get someone to write lyrics to it and sing it for me ? Should I leave it as an instrumental ? If so should I add a lead guitar or does it stand out on it's own.. ? Not sure I like the...

    Another Tune I'm working on

Hey everyone. Here is another tune that I'm working on. Tracked and Mixed on my fw-1884 with Cubase SX. I'm playing the gtr and my buddy wrote and sang it. There's some clipping going on with the vocals on the outro so I'm going to have to redoo that... Any comments are appreciated ...

    Linux Alternative

This article was forwarded to me today.. It's a linux system that uses CompactFlash card instead of a hard drive, "to eliminate hard disk chatter".....(I've never noticed hard drive chatter on my recordings).... http://linuxdevices.com/articles/AT8275095591.html It is pretty cool though, but...

    Midrange Controls on Monitors

Hi All. I have noticed that when I play my final mixes back on other systems that many of the instruments seem to be fighting for space in the midrange.... My monitors (Samson 65a's) have a midrange control in increments of +3 from flat to +6. So I'm guessing that I should use it to try and...

    Discrete Drums ?

Hey everyone. I wasn't sure on where to post this. I was thinking of putting it into Drums and Percussion, but then I thought that this might be more of a recording technique than a drum (or dumb) question ? Has anyone here had a chance to work with these loops ...
