I got my KSM32 yesterday. So I plugged it in my Korg D1200 digital 12 track. I already had some music tracks set to add some vocals to. I don't have a mic pre amp except for the one built in my Korg. Anyway I plugged my mic in and recorded my vocals. The results were it sounded Ok, nothing...

    The Olden days

Hey I'm listening to some old Cuban music and the sound is awesome, horns, percussion, acoustic guitars, fantastic vocals. I have no idea when these songs were recorded but I have a feeling it could be as far back as the 40s or 50s. My question is what kind of mics did they use back then...

You get what you pay for.

Let's face it when it comes to mics you get what you pay for. A hundred dollar mic is going to sound like a hundred dollare mic and a thousand dollar mic is going to sound, well you get the picture. The bottom line the more you pay the more you get. So if you want a decent mic save your money...

    What good are mic reviews?

What good are mic reviews if everyone has a slightly different opinion and they all give the usual middle of the road opinion? At the end of every review you read something like "Over all I say it's a good mic for the price." Speaking of the lower end mics that dont' cost a thousand dollars...

Micing Guitar amp with Condensor mics

Does anybody here mic their guitar amp with a condensor mic for recording purposes? I had a feeling this was a way to go to get a better sounding recording. That was when I had an analog recorder and I just couldn't get a good sound with my SM57 but now that I got a digital recorder it's not so...

    Korg D1200s

I bought one of these off ebay, risky I know. I'm a gambler I guess. Anyhoo, it didn't come with the instructional video just the manual. I just about exploded my head trying to figure this thing out. It was a far reach from my Tascam 414 I was used to using. After two days I'm recording and...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Ok all you master recorders, I need some advice. What's a good mic for recording an electric guitar amp? I have a SM57 mic which I've been using but I notice it doesn't capture the amps true sound. I want something that going to capture the sound as close as possible. Would a condenser mic be...

    Fostex FD 8 Digital Multitracker

I've seen these on ebay and I love the set up with the mixer out on the board. It looks pretty easy to use, almost like a anolog recorder. I'm just wondering if any one owns one and what you think about it. Because I'm looking for a digital recorder at least 8 tracks but I want something easy...
