So, I have been reading some recording magazines lately. I've been noticing a lot of reviews and stuff for mixers instead of rack mounted interfaces. Is there any real advantages to that? I'm using the Saffire Pro 40 and an Octopre now. I just have been feeling like the preamps built into those...
Is there a way to add an overall effect to say, 8 tracks? I already have a couple of compressors and such running on individual tracks, but I want to add reverb on to a set of drums all at once. Is that possible?
Thanks.
First, thanks for the other tips. The more I hear it, I think you guys are right about the kit and the tuning. I need to go back in with fresh ears. As far as mics go, It's the Audix DP7 kit I believe (D6 for kick, i5 for snare, 2 D2's for high toms and 2 D4's for low toms). And yes, I am using...
Thanks! I have the kit tuned pretty well (or so I'd like to think. Ha!). But really, you gave me a good place to start. And thanks for the side-chain explanation.
Okay, I'm not gonna lie: I'm a noob to recording, but I'm a super noob at recording drums. I'm getting some okay sounds, but spillover is KILLING me. I'm trying to get different mic positions, but there is always some spillover of some sort. The worst is when the kit drum is hit, one of the...
Wow, all this stuff is all really good. I just now saw all of it! I think of it was singer error, getting too close to the mic. I've had some luck getting him to back up. I'm seriously gonna try all this stuff. Thanks everyone. Seriously.
So, I have a track I am currently mixing. I've got an overall mix that I'm fairly happy with, but the vocals on this song have just been an absolute pain. They just sound like they are too close. I've tried lowering them and blending them more with the music, but then the vocals just end up...
Pretty much, is there a way to have multiple tempos set up in one song with logic? Just for instance, have 10 measures at 80, then 4 at 120, and just switch things back and forth like that. I've tried to figure it out myself, but Logic is a new world to me. Thanks!
So, I've been doing recording and getting back around to drums. So far, mic'ing has been quite a pain. Drums seem to be a more difficult thing to do, at least for me.
First, I've been doing a bit of research online about what some more popular bands are using for drum mics. I keep seeing...
So, I'm working on a song. The drum tracks are almost perfect. However, there is only one part (fortunately they are just single hits) where he hit a big "boom boom, boom boom" slightly off beat. I tried moving it by dragging, but it only moves the entire track. Is there any way to move just one...
It does actually. So, I was thinking it was something else. hahaha. So, sometimes with vocals, it may actually be a desired effect?
Also, that would have nothing to do with the fact that sometimes with my distorted guitar tracks, that they can sound kind of a couple feet away, even though I am...
So yeah, as the title says, could you please kindly explain to me what this is? I keep seeing people talk about it, but when I try to do web research on it, well...it's a little bit over my head...haha. I mean, as far as what it does to sound quality and all that. I apologize about the stupidity...
So, I have been trying to take recordipng seriously a lot the last couple months. Long story short, ive been recording (or trying) to record some distorted electric guitars. Ive just been having problems with the guitars sounding cheap. Mics i've been using: Blue Spark, Shure SM57, MXL r144...
Well, I'm playing through a PRS Custom 24 Ten Top, into a Mesa/Boogie Roadster and a Recto cab. I have all the right gear. My biggest problem is trying to figure out what kind of settings to have the amp at, where to put the mic and how to EQ it afterwards. I mean, I've got some okay sounds, but...
