New amp for Greg - Bladow! (lots of pics)

I've never really gotten into multi channel amps, but this kinda has me wanting one! Very very cool. Can it cop the JTM45 kinda tones?

    Need education on booster pedals

For playing non-master volume amps at lower volume, I kinda prefer attenuators to boosts on lower settings. You asked about JFET and MOSFET boosts (versus IC and transistor boosts). JFET and MOSFET have high input impedance (a good thing) and preserve the highs, so most of them seem to have...

    Short Scale Bass and Lessons

Ampeg bass amps are pretty solid. I had a buddy with a BA115 (I think) and it was a great amp. Bass players and drummers will always have jobs...us guitar players have to work hard for them :)

    Short Scale Bass and Lessons

What's that joke about bass lessons...the kid goes the first day and learns G, second day and learn C, third day and learns D, then he doesn't come home until after 2am the fourth day and smells like beer and cigarettes...you know that one? But, yeah, right on...get him started early and...

    Fender QC Fail

Again, sharp frets, bowed necks, and very poor intonation are not really "personal" setup issues. I"m pretty sure nobody wants a sharp fretted guitar.

    Year guitar made

    g o o g l e. it has all the answers.

    Fender QC Fail

maybe i'm wrong about the less than a minute thing, but they have "eyeball" spots for the intonation, and spacers for string height, probably a neck jig for truss rod. The whole thing is done without even playing the guitar once. Plus, sharp frets aren't a matter of personal taste, that's just...

    Guitar case keys

haha, true! my dad let us know we would not live long if we ever opened his Martin without permission.

    Fender QC Fail

I know some guys who work for Fender, Gretsch, and Suhr. Fender "techs" are trained (told) to do a "set up" in less than a minute. The others actually spend 5-10 doing setup work. It's amazing what a few minutes can do. Most of the problems I find with lower end guitars is the set up...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

I like PAFs for the most part. I just know a lot of bigger ceramic pickups sound a little dead...but who knows, could be a great deal stock.

    Guitar case keys

I always figured if someone was gonna steal it, they'd just take the whole case and use some pliers to break the lock open. I think all locking it would do is make me lose the keys and have to break my own case. Funny though, I got a 62 AVRI jazzmaster with keys in the case that came with it...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

Ok, I'm getting one of these with my Christmas money...Adults still get Christmas money right? Probably change out the pups...but I'll give it a try with the stock. XV-900 Semi Hollowbody Flamed Maple Alnico Fat Pats Orangeburst

Looking for a nice electric guitar

Exactly. A lot of people claim MIA are just better made MIM for fender. I don't think so. I think they are both hit and miss. So MIA is the same with better pickups and hardware. Plus a lot of stuff people complain about is basic set up stuff.

Looking for a nice electric guitar

There are a few good guitar makers who keep their quality control up and have been assembling in China and Korea. Xavier are great electrics, and Recording King are great acoustics. It's crazy that you can get 335 copy for under $300, throw in a nicer set of pups for another $150, and have...

I played a bunch of amps today....

haha, i thought the same thing. I don't know anyone who liked that early 2000s cock rock, or the stupid rap rock stuff (korn, limpbizkit)...who did that junk ever get on the radio? you know, I hate rap, but I also hate radio rock. If all I heard was radio rock I'd think rock sucked too. So...

I played a bunch of amps today....

Dude, you gotta get some tribals if you wanna be cool in the late 90s to early 2000s! Maybe get a PRS and play wearing just a leather vest and tight pants with your leg up on the monitor during solos..."with arms wide open..."

Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top

crappy. buying through the mail is so convenient, but it sure does suck for guitars. sorry it didn't work out.

I played a bunch of amps today....

Rad! Sounds like a fun place to try stuff out. I love the offset fenders. Jags are amazing, and probably the next guitar I get. My main guitar right now is a Jazzmaster...but I still love teles, and P90 guitars too! As much as I typically dislike HBs (or actually, typically prefer single...
