Again, sharp frets, bowed necks, and very poor intonation are not really "personal" setup issues. I"m pretty sure nobody wants a sharp fretted guitar.

I know some guys who work for Fender, Gretsch, and Suhr. Fender "techs" are trained (told) to do a "set up" in less than a minute. The others actually spend 5-10 doing setup work. It's amazing what a few minutes can do. Most of the problems I find with lower end guitars is the set up...

Exactly. A lot of people claim MIA are just better made MIM for fender. I don't think so. I think they are both hit and miss. So MIA is the same with better pickups and hardware. Plus a lot of stuff people complain about is basic set up stuff.
