I have the SATA hard drive out of a defunct Toshiba Freeview HDD/DVD recorder. I would like to check it for any recordings from years ago which might be interesting.
I have a W10 tower PC and I could easily plug the drive in but I have two questions.
1)Is the drive liable to cause any 'boot'...
Say I have 2 tracks recorded (44.1kHz, 24bits) from my MOTU M4 in a DAW as .wav files. Then two more recorded on a Tascam handheld, same .wav, same sample rate/word length. Can I just drop them into the DAW and have them work?
I know enough to know the two interfaces will not run at EXACTLY...
I came across this https://www.soundcraft.com/en/product_documents/series-five-user-guide-pdf
Today. Thought someone here might find it of interest?

Just saw a vid with Billy Ocean and LURVED that bass sound! Anyone have an idea of the bass (looks like Fender P) and the rig? https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13965988

That is what I get when trying to access an old NAS drive in win 10. I can use it in w7 but the setup is very slow. I can access the drive's info from my router but don't know what to change or if a fix is possible. Yes there is a microsoft link I can try but they are almost always a chocolate...
I don't have a suitable fig 8 mic, can I therefore use two 'identical' cardioid SDCs ' back to back at right angles to the front facing mic?
Now, I presume I shall have to flip the polarity of one of the side facing mics, sum them and treat that signal as the Side signal?
However, it occurs...
What has/is happening about it? I take Sound on Sound every month and see sheds of reviews of keyboards and synths and other hard ware with MIDI ports* but never any mention of the new, advanced MIDI protocol.
I also infest three audio forums and no mention there AFAICT? Is it a lost cause due...
For my son, he has Reaper, Samplitude ProX3 and the free Cakewalk. The band he is with have recently become interested in Indian music and he wants to experiment in his flat.
Free or cheap please and not a monster CPU hit. Asking a bit I know but if yer don't ask...?
Dave.
The mic belongs to the guitarist my son plays bass in a trio for. He has borrowed it and attached it to his classical guitar and I thought others might like to hear the results? The mic requires phantom power and on that recording it is plugged into a MOTU M4.
The trio use acoustic guitars and...
I have a Sennheiser headset that terminates in two TRS 3.5mm jack plugs. In conjunction with a USB dongle it works admirably for Skyping my son in France.
I am looking for a similar headset for a third party that has the mic output on XLR3 so that is can pug into a standard interface or mixer...
Sent these to my son a week ago and today he has sent me some recordings. The attached clip is in his ground floor flat in Le Havre. Mics into a MOTU M4 and 1 mtr away. Not sure of the setup but I think he was going to try ORTF, 110dgr angle.
Others with much better hearing than I can perhaps...
Read something the other day that I "knew" but had not thought the circumstances through?
Problem: a chap having trouble sending an AI's line outputs, via transformers to a venue desk, cannot get much above -6dBu without distortion.
That problem seems to be due to the 'line' signals feeding...
what you can do for free these days! My son has found the backing tracks to this AC/DC song and replaced the guitar with himself on a Tele clone using a guitar distortion template in the free Cakewalk.
OK the MOTU M4 he did it with cost dad a bob or two but we are all very lucky to have this...

It was, sort of! Some here will know that I record the nightly wildlife in my garden? Well I have used up my last "crap" mic out there so when I saw the "qtx DM11B" on Zon for 7 quid I instantly ordered a pair.
Turns out they are made of plastic but they do at least have a metal 'globe' and...

My son is helping a guy with some songs and has suggested doubling the voice could help. He has knocked up the attached tonight as a demo of what he means.
I think it is rather good but then I am his dad!

I have just got that working. Son and I have found it a bit of a pain to have to keep turning down monitors when running any open mics so I built this relay box.
The problem with all such extra boxes is power but I found some mini' relays (0.1 'Vero' pitch) with 5V coils. They are DPDT and so...
First time here chaps so be kind. I also know Jack S about Cakewalk! What I would like to know is if there is a 'filter' setting that can turn off Pitch Bend on an external controller?
Son's EVO controller in France has a dodgy PB pot and he has to jam it to stop random 'wows'. Years ago we...
