    the "Vocoder" effect

You'll probably need to use a VST or DX plugin. FXpansion Robotik Vocoder, Prosoniq Orange Vocoder and the Hyperprism vocoder all run within VST. I've used the Prosoniq one before and it's pretty good, although I haven't tried to get a 'Stevie Wonder-esque' sound from it. It does the...

    automation question

Hmmm... this annoys me too. It's sort of pointless having automation on a computer based mixer if you can't get fades etc. to be any smoother than on a hardware mixer. You can enter data if you open the audiotrack thingy.. but you can't draw it (as far as i know).

    is this possible?

If you have the time and patience it's worth sampling every key instead of letting the sampler pitch 1 sample across the entire keyboard. If the sound is 'non-evolving' then just a small looped sample will do. Otherwise you'll have to have big samples and maybe forget about looping. You...

    What sampler?

Yep.. if you don't need a built in sequencer you should check out some software samplers. Gigasampler/Gigastudio and Speedsoft Virtual Sampler and both worth looking at. Virtual Sampler can load heaps of different formats (akai, SF2 etc). They both kick the whoopsy out of my poor old Roland...

    Reverb Plug-a-boo?

Thanks for the reply. Using the automation function on the mixer panel does work... but it's a lot of work to do for an entire track. Plus it's a real pain to edit compared to CCs. I did manage to work out a pretty crappy solution using a group with a very slow tremelo going into a reverb - at...

    Reverb Plug-a-boo?

I'm trying to recreate a reverb on my Digitech Studioquad that has an LFO to control the wet/dry levels. So... can anyone suggest a reverb plugin (VST or DX) that responds to MIDI CCs, or one that has some way of automating the wet/dry levels?

    Delta in Heat

SPDIF is for connecting your card to a device with digital ins/outs (DAT machines etc...). Unless you've got something to plug into it, it's kind of useless. Does anyone know how easy/complex it is to make a cable extension for the Delta-66 breakoutbox?

Double click won't open all/arr files

Thanks Emeric.. I'll give it a try.

Double click won't open all/arr files

For some reason VST has decided to stop opening .all and .arr files when they're double clicked. If I double click a file, Cubase will happily start up - but then I have to open the file using the menu... It's no big deal - but I'm sure it used to work. And I'm sure I could save about 30 seconds...

do wav files play on a CD player

CD players can't play wavs (as far as I know)... but some weirdo DVD players can handle mp3s, as can a few dedicated mp3CD walkman thingys. Just drag the wav file into a CD burning program and choose 'burn audio CD' or whatever (instead of data CD) - nearly all burning programs will do this...

    Roland S-50 junkbox price ?

It's that time of year again when I think about selling all the junk sitting at the end of my bed... this includes a Roland S-50 sampler (with monitor, tablet, flight case, library etc..). Anyone got any ideas how much these things are worth (Australian $) ? I shudder when I remember how much...

    Orange Vocoder & 98Lite bad

Fixed Ignore previous post... I fixed it. Just incase anyone has a similar prob - I copied the dll and then uninstalled Orange Vocoder & cleaned out my registry...then just moved the dll back to the vstplugins directory. All works fine now. PHEW :)

    Orange Vocoder & 98Lite bad

My new setup doesn't seem to like Orange Vocoder...the plug still seems to work - but I get an error message from VST everytime I start it up. Any ideas? Is it something to with 98Lite? Is it something to with a VST logfile? Is it annoying (oops)? My new (seemingly damned) system is: Win98...

    Orchestral remix V2

Just a little update on the orchestral rubbish I've been making. I've added a tiny bit of percussion, but I think it might have been better without it. http://www.neselalliance.f2s.com/updates.htm It's track 1 on the little music player thing. The audio quality is terrible (thanks to Flash...

    Orchestral remix

!Pizzlefizpop would fit in nicely i think :) I just had a go at adding some percussion. All I've got in the way of orchestral percussion is some Roland S-50 samples - and they get 0/10 for quality. So I'll have to do some hunting around to find something a little bit nicer. I'll upload a new...

    Orchestral remix

Thanks for checking the track. SY-77? John - .. that's where I got the name from :) The song was recorded with Cubase VST32, Virtual Sampler, Acoustic Mirror, and a few Akai discs. I'm planning on adding some percussion ... but I'm really getting out of my depth with this classical stuff...

    Orchestral remix

I'd really appreciate some opinions on my first orchestral remix - the track is called 'Separation (Arrangement)'. http://mp3.com/castel Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks :) Oh.. and it's not 100% finished yet.

    Enhancing Plugins

What are the best/most effective plugins for enhancing final mixes? So far I've looked at these : Arboretum Realizer Pro Hyperprism Harmonic Exciter Waves Ultramaximizer Prosoniq Dynasone My music is mostly electronic (no vox - and very little compression), and I've previously used a...

    Electronics

Hey, thanks for checking them out - I wasn't expecting anyone to listen to them all! Drums/percussion is something I'm never too sure about... I monitor nearly everything via headphones so what sounds pretty busy (to me) often ends up sounding like pizzlefizpop to other people. But then again...

    Electronics

"This music is crap and you don't use enough guitars." At least someone could have replied with something like this :) Surely there are people here interested in non-guitar music?
