I have been wondering this for awhile, and I know that it takes research to figure it out... I am just hoping someone can point me in the right direction with some good articles or video tutorials hopefully. I just got done watching this video on youtube -...
I am very into this type of music/sound here, but don't really no the best way about how to learn this style, or what kind of music this is even considered being exactly (I think it's called orchestral? Here is the song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tarE433OKr0
Maybe someone can point me in...
Wow, great information guys, thanks so much! The technique I thought that was used but you guys didn't mention was that of a master limiter. What I did before, and was going to do before I learned a new technique from you tonight, was to start at the beginning of the song, where the guitar and...
Basically, I have a song that starts with one guitar for the first measure. When the third measures hits a new guitar part comes in on top, and at the fourth measure and the start of the 5th, probably like 6 or 7 new elements come in.
I am just wondering, what techniques do people use to keep...
Basically, I have been using Mixcraft 7 for over two years now, and am kind of running out of good drum loops to use for my songs, and I want to learn how to make my own. I am wondering if someone in the know can hit me up with a few answers to what I am wondering, so I have references for my...
(By the way, I still plan on using the technique from the other thread, just curious as to how to get this method working also so I can test it out)
I use the DAW Mixcraft 7, and I have a Scarlet 2i2 and Spider IV amp. I want to record my Spider IV going direct into my Scarlet 2i2 using the...
I think this is what I have been searching for, just have been curious as to if people actually use this technique. I truly believe this is by far the best way to record, nothing could compare, especially if you are using a semi-hollow or hollow, solid wouldn't matter quite as much.
Anyways...
I am a little worried about using a mic, because using a mic in front of the amp speaker head doesn't really pick up the direct sound off the strings, and I use a semi-hollow body so I want to get that extra acoustic sound off the strings if I can get it.
There has got to be a better way than...
I am wondering how the pro's record electric guitar. From what I now as of now, there are mainly two ways to do it, but I may be wrong. The first one is the technique of plugging the electric guitar straight into the audio interface, and than recording clean without any effects etc, and then...
What do you mean by the headphone output is stereo? And that if I am using stereo FX, that I will want to split the headphone output to left and right channels to separate inputs on the interface. Could you please explain in depth, I am very confused and this seems like it might be an...
I just bought a Line 6 Spider IV guitar amp and am wondering what is the best way to record this into my DAW? I am using Mixcraft 7 and a Scarlett 2i2...
Right now I have my song completed up to the end of the first chorus. I know songs just repeat the same music from the first verse and chorus into the second verse and chorus. My song is a piano song and I actually am just going to copy and paste all the music from the first verse and chorus...
I know songs are basically just repeats from verse to verse, chorus to chorus. Basically, verse one and verse two and chorus one and chorus two are the same exact in almost every song other than the lyrics in the verse change obviously from verse to verse. Sometimes people may add another part...
I am watching the Berklee course with Loudon Stearns, and he said that the order the effects are in (eq, compression, etc.) has an impact on them, and the sound. Is this true, and if it is, how so?
Two questions from what you said I have... (Yoda is my father by the way):wtf:
You said that "the direct monitoring function simply routes a signal directly from the inputs to the outputs. It won't affect playback at all, it only affects monitoring of your inputs."
So I am confused about...
Tadpui (and others), I have a Scarlett 2i2. This is basically where I'm at...
I forgot to mention I have an audio interface, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Basically this is where I'm at...
In my opinion, I think the first thing anyone should be taught that wants to set a home studio up is...
Right now I am watching a vid about buffer size and how it relates to latency. I am learning that for recording, you want a really low buffer size, around 128. I also know that you can't go with to low of a buffer size or it will give you popping and clicking noises on playback. I heard that you...
I somewhat knows what clipping means somewhat, but I am not 100% sure. Basically I just know it means the signal is to loud or something. Can someone explain to me what it is so I know for sure? And also how to avoid it?
