(By the way, I still plan on using the technique from the other thread, just curious as to how to get this method working also so I can test it out)

I use the DAW Mixcraft 7, and I have a Scarlet 2i2 and Spider IV amp. I want to record my Spider IV going direct into my Scarlet 2i2 using the Direct Output on the back of the amp. I have the proper cables and everything, but when I get all connected, I can not get any sound coming from Mixcraft. Somehow it is like the signal is not getting through. Any idea's???

From the Spider IV Advanced Maunal (available on line6.com). . .

"Rear Panel I/O
Stereo Phones/Direct Output – To listen with headphones, plug them
in here. This stereo jack also serves as a Direct Output to connect your Spider IV to a mixer, PA, computer DAW, recording interface or other line input equipment. You’ll get world class quality sound for recording - as good as it gets for direct guitar.

First, you need to use a stereo (3 conductor) plug that splits into two mono plugs to plug into both inputs of your Scarlet and set the switches to 'line' - the Spider output is stereo, even if you are not using any stereo effects. If you use a standard guitar cable you will only get one channel, and the volume will be lower overall.
I don't use Mixcraft, but assume you have selected the Scarlet as your audio input and output device? You can plug a set of headphones into the the Spider output first to make sure you are getting sound out of it.
