Wonder what kind of prices one would encounter renting neve and api gear? When these things can be financed just like a jet-ski or sailboat, why not consider owning them? I am going on a single-item at a time kind of plan. Pay one off, get the next. The less expensive items I will bundle...
Cool. What do you trigger your TD-10 with?
I am not satisfied with sequencers or drum machines, and I'm not quite accomplished enough in my opinion as a drummer on acoustic drums, so I am using an spd-6 pad, and I have ordered a Hart Dynamics 6-pad also. These I can play well enough to record...
Cool! I'll give you 50 bucks, 3 pizza hut coupons, and a guitar pick once owned by Leo Fender (it even SAYS fender on it) in trade for the neve and api stuff.
It must be irritating having that junk in your studio! Lemme help you out...
Hey, I'm kind of mixer-illiterate. Can anyone tell me if a mint-condition Tascam M-35 console is worth 225.00?
It's a big old 4-bus board with huge VU meters and 8 mic/line inputs. Every single output is RCA with the exception of phones, studio feed and expansion solo which are 1/4 inch. 2 band...
I've had who knows how many amps/racks/tape machines etc. going at one time, and never remember throwing a breaker. Plug in a drill or circular saw, though, and it's a different story. It's electric motors and such that eat up the amps. That's why your A/C will make your electric bill $7000.00...
Taylor,
I hope it is temporary. I think we all go through that kind of "spell" from time to time. I recently got stage fright, for lack of a better term, in my own damned home studio...I think I was afraid to record on the new setup, because I believe it capable of doing what I put it...
Thanks to everyone for the information. F. Lai, what is it about the Yamaha models you prefer that sets them apart or makes them better in your view than the Roland products? I'm not too familiar with Yamaha keyboards, but I hear lots of good things about them. Oh, I also ran across a huge...
I was in an exterminator commercial once. No, twice. The termites, I hear, are still ok at the house where they were filmed, but the the guy who owned it died. I want a great river just cuz everybody else does. Thank you, but I don't sign autographs.

I saw this guy whaling away like mad on a synth at the music store the other day. It was a roland fantom, and the guy told me it would be good for a person like me (guitarist, non-keyboardist) to create with and use in my studio. I tended to agree after he showed me the rather simple user...
No, I don't mix down with the outboard mixer. I use it as you mentioned, for trackig, but not just for the preamps, but also because the console I chose has great eq w/sweepable mids. It's also handy to have for connecting peripheral stuff like my cassette recorder, etc. There are times when I...
I, for one, think that it is very possible to acheive the type of results on a VS, and the first reason for this is that just a couple of days after I bought a vs1824 I burned a cd of a quickly written and played song I did just to have something to play with as I learned my machine, and was...
Man, man, man I went down and plugged in a v-twin yesterday at the store. I couldn't believe the price at first (399.00) but then I plugged it in to an amp exactly like mine and after about 10 seconds I knew that's what I had been looking for. This thing literally does KICK ASS. and it's got...
Thanks for the reply, studio. I'm going to go with the dm5, I can't justify the dmpro at twice the price. Aso found a good deal on a yamaha 550 pad, stand and cables for 330 bucks. Any thoughts on this unit? BTW I did get an spd-6 and love it as a trigger for outboard sounds.
Ok, I've played with my vs1824cd for two weeks, now I think this:
1) I need a mackie 1602
2) I need a VC-1Q
3) I need to add the second effects card
3) At this point, if I can't kick ass, something's wrong.
Thoughts?
Any opinions on the boss GT6 ?
What other effects units do you like for heavy and mainstream rock styles for recording your live-mic'ed amp?
I've used lots of processors, and like boss's current offerings. I mostly use an '88 ibanez roadstar solidbody into a randall 100w 2x12.
It will howl...
My main guitar is an Ibanez '88 roadstar, and it gets sent directly into a Randall 100w 2x12 2-channel amp. The internal reverb sucks, but the gain on channel one is awesome, and the chorus is sometimes usable. It's mic'ed with a 57 which is sent to a dbx mini tube pre before going in. From...
hmmm...chaining...animals...there's a concept. Yep, the BR8 does have a digital out...but that's all i know about it so far. I got me a copy of the manual, now to figure this thing out and see if it'll work. What type of equipment are you using in your studio, Knightfly?
How does one go about chaining two digital daws together? Take for an example a Boss BR8 and a Roland 1824. I have access to a used BR8 cheap, and I'm considering using it for the cosm effects and possibly to expand my sys (mixing a lg. drumkit, etc)
