Can anyone recommend a good beginners bass amp?

Will the amp need enough power and volume to play in a band, or will it just be for practicing at home ?

    Reverbs, Reverbs, Reverbs

TC Electronic M300 sounds great. Somewhat limited programmability but I think it sounds better than processors that cost much more.

    Somebody Please Help Me

I'm not familiar with that particular recorder, but I would try pressing down the PLAY and RECORD buttons at the same time. I hope that works. Good luck.

    Solid state or Tube

How about this history- most trolls end up getting banned. Your witty posts were slightly amusing at first but now they are just annoying and tedious. If I was a moderator here you would have been voted off the island yesterday. Have a nice day :)

    Solid state or Tube

Frank Gambale was using a Marshall JMP-1 tube preamp the last three times I saw him play (in 2001, 2002, and 2003). I know he has a signature preamp that Carvin is selling, I assume he is now using that.

    Recording Bass

The Bass POD has compression. I own the original model (not the XT) and I think the compressor is it's best feature.

SM57 as good as an Oktava condenser???

The SM57 is a dynamic mic, and the MC012 is a condenser mic.

Bet you've heard this one before . . . PREAMPS!

I looked at the Fostex website and it looked like the VF-80 has 2 inputs, using either XLR or 1/4" connections. I'm not sure you need an 8 channel preamp, if you can only use two at a time. Do you know how many tracks it will record simultaneously ?

    instrument mic?

I disagree with the suggestions of an SM-57 for acoustic guitar. A condenser mic will give you better high frequency detail and transient response.

Need opinions on the Peavey classic 50

It's a great amp, the clean sounds and the distorted sounds. The spring reverb is very nice too. I've owned the Classic 50 for about 4 years without any problems or repairs. It is a heavy amp, but I guess it can be good exercise to carry it up a flight of stairs :D I really...

    Can anyone tell me please...

This is it www.tracksounds.com/flashnotes/archive/march_2002.htm It also says that a Korg T-3 was used, but the T-3 came out in about 1989 or 1990 so that cannot be correct. good luck

    Looking for certain Bass Sound

The effect I think you want is an envelope filter. Electro Harmonix makes several good ones- Q-Tron, Mini Q Tron, NYC Bassballs. Bootsy Collins is known to use the Q-Tron. Mutron makes good ones but they are expensive. Boss, EBS, and Digitech are other possibilities. Check out...

    Good guitar tone? BLUES DRIVER

The Boss Blues Driver is an overdrive pedal, so it's a little more subtle and less nasty/dirty than a distortion.
