I am planing on recording live drums, guitar, bass, and vocals on an eight track hard disk recorder. This recorder has mic simulators on it, and amp simulators, along with compression and effects.

Actually, thats wrong.
You have to find out the impedance (ohms)of your speakers. Then find out what your amp can run at. If the impedance of your speakers is lower than what your amp can handle, you're sure to overheat you amp.
