    Recording Vocals

the way I see it, I could run the output of the soundcard to the mixer and listen to the headphones from there, but I'd rather not reconfigure my whole set up. I'm looking for an ideal way to get the output from the sound card to a pair of headphones and not the monitors.

    Recording Vocals

I recently just finished setting up my home studio, and it's working great for recording instruments. However, I've run into a snag about recording vocals. How do I get all the sound to go to the headphones and not the monitors for vocal tracking? I'm using an m-audio audiophile 192 soundcard.

    computer and smoke

thanks the computer was in a box, but it had large "grip" holes on the side, and it wasn't in plastic. I'm not going to bother to return now, I'll just cut my losses and use it. hopefully nothing got dirty :)

    computer and smoke

not really a "recording" question per se, but I was wondering if smoke could damage a computer. I recently bought a very expensive computer custom built for recording, but didn't have enough space to set it up yet so I kept it at my girlfriend's house. Well, while they were out last night...

The Deal with Academic Version software

thanks for the heads up. I'm looking at possibly buying pro tools m-powered, sound forge 8, and battery 2 academic versions. But I think I'm gonna pay $100 for the regular version of the pro tools, just in case.

The Deal with Academic Version software

So, what's the complete scoop on academic version software? I know some companies, like celemony, offer the exact same program with the academic version of melodyne, it's just significantly lower in price. Yet other brands, such as pro tools, have "academic version" written boldly on the front...

    Question about the Audiophile 2496

    about mastering...

Will mastering engineers master anything? or does it have to be in a certain format, etc.? For example, if I came up to one with a cd with 12 wav files on it (already mixed), they would be able to master them? thanks

    connecting monitors to computer

I was wondering what is the best way to connect monitors to a computer. Should I just connect them into the sound card or is it better to connect the computer to a mixer and then to monitors? I feel dumb for asking but I can't find an answer anywhere. much thanks.

    Distortion Pedal for Direct Recording

    Distortion Pedal for Direct Recording

I'm gonna be running a v-amp pro modeling amp into my comp, since it gets really good clean sounds. However, to thicken up the distortion a little, I want to also use a Big Muff pedal between the v-amp and my comp. Is this wise? Can you get a good distortion sound from a pedal when you direct...

    Recording with POD

Does anyone know how the Vox ToneLab matches up against the PODs? Based on the reviews I've read, it appears that most people prefer the tonelab after they have used it. Ideally, I want to buy a Pod Pro, but they don't make them anymore so I can't find one anywhere. If I can't find one, I...

    Recording with POD

Ok, so I am looking to record guitar directly to my computer with the help of Line 6 pods. I can either get a POD 2.0, a POD xt, or the POD xt pro. Which do you think is the best one for direct recording? I've heard that the originl pod 2.0 has a more realistic sound, but that the podxts are...
