Is it possible to use flash memory when recording a pro tools session as opposed to an external hd? 2GB drives are pretty cheap, and it seems as though the access times for the flash drive would be considerably faster than for a standard external hd. Has anyone tried this? Any good reasons why...
Yeah, I think I feel the same way. But what about free refills that aren't presented as royalty free? Is there a difference between using loops and using synth sounds, as one is a complete product while the other is really just a shell? Hmm...
I've been using free refills found online in my Reason stuff for a while now, but I got to wondering - how do I know if refills are royalty free? Only one of the refills on propellerhead's free refill page, for example, is listed as being 'royalty free,' but does this mean that all of the others...
I am thinking about purchasing a Sytek MPX-4aii and running it into a M-Audio Firewire 410. The sytek only has xlr outs, however. Is there a way to bypass the pres on the 410 using XLRs? Should I just use some high quality XLR to 1/4" cables to patch the sytek into the line inputs on the 410...
Did you use stock images from the shure site or other retail sellers, or did you take your own pictures? I've heard of many shure listings being removed due to using their photography.
Couple of thoughts...
How close are your monitors gonna be to your monitor? You'd have to get them pretty close for this to really matter, but magnets don't really like monitors much...
How far apart are the monitors going to be if you put them in the desk? I'd try to get at least 4 or 5 feet...
You're on the right track thinking that sounds boring...too many bands never realize that
As far as what equipment you need...most venues will have a decent sound system and at least some sm58s and cables. Did you make all of your music with the sounds in FL Studio, or did you use...
I think i'll either end up going with that sebatron or just a good ol' API 3124+ - eBay and Craig'slist will be my new best friends for the next few weeks. Not that i ever take breaks from them anyhow :p
Yeah, I got a lot of "too sterile" and "no character" from gearslutz...looks like a no-go. They steered me in the direction of the Sebatron VMP-4000e, though, which looks like it'll fit my application very nicely, and for just a couple hundred dollars more.
I'm a ProTools kinda guy, and I'd really prefer to stick with it, seeing as that's what I'm comfortable with, and it's what I've found works best for my purposes. That limits me to avid hardware.
The four outputs on the projectmix really turn me off, compared to the 002's ten. I run pro-tools m-powered, and will continue to do so if i buy the projectmix (obviously). Does anyone know if i can run my firewire 410 into the projectmix via the ADAT connections in order to gain 8 additional...
Does anyone own or have experience with one of these pres? What are your thoughts on it? I'm considering purchasing one after reading reviews online, but I don't have the opportunity to hear one. I record primarily acoustic guitars, percussive instruments, vocals, and acoustic pianos, and I'd be...
I've actually been using M-Powered for somewhere around a year now, and I've really enjoyed it. The transition should be smooth to LE, as the differences between the two are virtually nil.
Cool, that all makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for the help!
I'll probably end up just wiring a patchbay myself; I helped a friend do it once. Just a lot of soldering, and the occasional burned finger :p
Instead of using inserts, I can just rewire using the patchbay after laying down the tracks, and then run the tracks through, for example, my reverb unit?
Thanks for all of the help, guys :)
I'm considering purchasing a digi 002, but I have a question. How do you guys run your racks with something like the 002? Should I just get a patchbay and use the various outputs/inputs of the 002 to access my pres, compression, and reverb?
Any help will be greatly appreciated :D
You can run 18 on the 002, but what about on the ProjectMix?
Oh, and 8 mic pres on the PM vs 4 on the 002 is quite convenient. Has anyone used both and can comment on the way the pres compare?
Yes, but from what I've heard (just from browsing on the DUC forums), the coreaudio seems to have a lot of problems with latency and various bugs when running logic especially.
Feature-wise, are there any major differences that I'm missing between the two boards? They look almost identical to...
