What are you recording? How will the mic be used?

I'd be interested only if it runs on 9V. The more compact in size the better. Would be interested in pre-made, not DIY.

What happened is I accidently posted the same post twice but it doesn't seem that you can actually delete posts, only edit them, so I ......... If anyone knows if posts can be deleted let me know.

Currently using Sony/Sonic Foundry compressor and every time I even apply it lightly (like 1.5:1) it takes the life out of the music recordings and makes vocals muddy. It's not real obvious but if you listen close you can hear it. Anyways, anyone using anything they're real happy with...

Where do you run into trouble with hitting 0dBFS? I've seen it where there isn't a noticeable problem (such as distortion) when hitting 0FS when working in my computer editing program. Does this issue mostly have to do with putting the 0FS song through a DAC?

I was just about to pick up the ECM8000 but then I heard about the MSHs. I'm holding off for the MSHs coming up that are supposed to have a plug-in power option.

Well, I wouldn't know but I have seen reference to it not having an extreme high sound pressure handling, so my guess would be "no".

I'd be interested in knowing the sensitivity of 3V plug-in power vs. using a 9V battery box.

Just wondering when these might be available? And will the specs (e.g. noise, sensitivity) be the same as the phantom units? If running a pair of these, could I do it with one 9V battery box? Or would I need two battery boxes?

leddy, how far off would you recommend placing the omni? Also, I'm not real familiar with the parts of a bass. Where should the omni be placed? About a half foot north of the bridge, in the direction of the head?

Have you considered the Studio Projects LSD2? I've heard it's especially good in M/S.

I've used a few different brands of (non-boom) mic stands and the one I've liked best for quality of construction and design has been Ultimate-Support.
