What about a real tube amp! Unless your situation doesn't afford you this convenience, a Pod XT can be quite useful. I've tried both the POd XT and v-amp and must say both are great for high gain distortion, but IMHO they don't have the subtleties(sp?) at lower drive settings as a tube amp...
I'm not sure about completely eliminating hum, but you certainly can reduce it. Has something to do with ground loops. Check out this article by Geofex. I've not tried these on my setup but adding to my "to do" list. http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/Spyder/spyder.htm
Yes, I'm sure they are wav files and double checked them in windows explorer. It's not only wav files as the loop explorer will not let me access any files on any of my drives. What I see are folders in the folder pane, but no folder content (files), regardless of file type. I'm sure there's...
I am trying to preview drum loop .wav files in sonar 4 loop explorer, but all I see are folders in the left side folder pane. No files are showing up in the right side pane. I've tried altering 'view file types' in winxp control panel, changing preview bus, and checking audio drivers. I...
Cakewalk forum is a start. Also check out www.musicxp.net for basic tips on configuring you pc. Hopefully freeze function in SP4 will help reduce frequency of dropouts.
Hey raindogred. I'm interested in what others have to say about these amps as well. I found this older thread which may be helpful https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=31740 If anyone has any thoughts on these, please chime in.
Well, since this is the cakewalk forum and a new release of Sonar 4 was announced yesterday, I guess I should ask how far below the ranks of Sonar is ProTools and Logic?
No really...it all depends on your needs and cash flow. Try them all out if you can, then make your decision.
I contacted Cakewalk sales dept. this morning trying to upgrade from 2.0 to 3 PE, but the guy told me they were updating inventory and could not place an order until later this afternoon. So I call back after lunch and they tell me 4 is being released w/ 3 discontinued. When asked about the...
I currently use the BetaMonkey loops as well and find them to be useful for straight 4/4 rock type stuff, but lack quality brush and hot rod loops. For those I use BigFishAudio and they're spotty at best. IMHO, I have yet to find a good collection of simplistic folk/rock/songwriter type...
My wife's friend bakes birthday cakes for Lance Berkman's kids!
Wait wait wait...my college band played in the same frat house Don Henley was a member of while attending Stephen F. Austin State University.
When you record the acoustic kick drum w/ a mic, you're recording a wav/audio file. However, if you want to trigger another kick drum from the drum machine, then you will need a midi note. I don't know how (or if) you can convert an audio file to midi, but I would just try triggering the drum...
Try Spin Audio's demo VST wrapper here http://www.spinaudio.com/products.php?id=27 I think you can use one VST plugin w/ the freebie version. Also w/ a VST-DX wrapper, you can use most VST plugins in Sonar and Cool Edit Pro (Adobe Audition).
