    Levels dBu vs dBFS issue

Hi there. I cant get in there till next Monday, but I will check that out. Logic is coming in on a stereo channel rather than a mono one and that channel is peaking at +16 and only dropping when it reaches the Main mix L+R. As far as I know I have double checked everything. but will look again...

    Levels dBu vs dBFS issue

Hi there I wonder if anyone could help clear this up for me? I can't seem to get my head around it: Using Logic Pro 9 and Allen and Heath GSR24 desk. 1) Playing a mastered stereo track in Logic that peaks at 0 dBFS as you would expect. 2) The output of Logic is sent via the desks firewire...

    Group channel insert confusion.

Great stuff. By overthinking about it I somehow bypassed this knowledge which was hidden somewhere in the back of my mind. Thanks alot for clearing that up! Cheers Smoulders

    Group channel insert confusion.

Hi there. I have a theoretical question here that has left me a bit confused after looking at a manual for the gsr24M mixer which shows the group channels as each having an insert point round the back. Lets say you are sending several mono drum signals to a group channel on a hardware desk...

    Cabling qestion

Hi Massive Master. Thanks alot for the quick response. That has really helped. 1 thing....If a male XLR goes to a TRS jack is it definately balanced? Many thanks

    Cabling qestion

Hi there everybody. Just wondering. If you are taking the output of some outboard gear that has a choice of either balanced XLR output or balanced 1/4" Jack output but you are going into the in of a patch bay which takes jack only, is it better to use a balanced XLR to Jk cable or a balanced jk...

Equipment similar to headphone amp for vocal booth

Thanks again for the input on this Gecko. Definately one to consider. I think Il just go for the smallest headphone amp I can find similar to what youve suggested. The booth is only the size of a phone box, so the smaller the better. Thanks again. Smoulders

Equipment similar to headphone amp for vocal booth

Thanks for that. Ideally I would like the booth user to be able to adjust their headphone level. he studio out is an L + R stereo pair, but I guess I could just use a y cable for that. Your option would definately work, but I thought there might be a bit of kit that was specifically for this...

Equipment similar to headphone amp for vocal booth

Hi there I am kitting out a small studio with mini vocal booth and and seperate control room with desk etc. Will be sending the 1 mic signal from the booth to the desk and then the studio outputs of the desk back to the booth for monitoing. The studio outs allow you to send the main mix...

    Joe Meek TwinQ query

Hi MOFO Many thanks for that. Yeah, I have since looked into a couple of options including the Mutec solution, but were lookingat about £600! I had no idea it would be that expensive. A Midi man sam would be the cheapest option I think, but there are none about on ebay at the mo. Cheers Nick

    Joe Meek TwinQ query

Hi there everybody. Quick question about the digital outs on the Joe Meek twin Q. As you can see from the following screen shot the TwinQ has an Spdif out on RCA connector and an optical out. I want to connect to an ADAT input on Zed R-16 firewire desk, but I gather that even though the...

    Wall mounted speaker stands

Hi there guys. Can anyone recommend some wall mounted speaker stands or similar solution. Most I have seen appear to be the kind you screw into the monitors which I do not want to do. More of a shelf design that they sit on (preferably with tilt/swivel facility). I know wall mounting is not the...

    Mic pre+instrument DI query

Ooh, forgot to ask. I am aware that in the states your voltage setting is different to ours. I am guessing that the Joe meek uses a kettle lead (just a guess), but does anyone know if it is dual voltage so it can work over here in the UK or will I need to buy an adapter? Last thing I want to...
