Equipment similar to headphone amp for vocal booth

Hi there

I am kitting out a small studio with mini vocal booth and and seperate control room with desk etc.

Will be sending the 1 mic signal from the booth to the desk and then the studio outputs of the desk back to the booth for monitoing. The studio outs allow you to send the main mix, auxilliaries or any combo of the two.

What piece of gear would you recommend for inside the booth to receive the incoming signal from the studio out of the desk and to plug headphones in. Is there any specialist equipment for this or is it just a case of buying a compact mixer or headphone amp that takes a stereo input.

Alot of the headphone amps have multiple headphone inputs. As there is only ever going to be 1 person in the booth this seems overkill. Is there such a think as a snake that is designed for just the one set of returns and the one mic input?

Any recommendations for a specfic piece of gear for the job would be greatly appreciated!

MAny thanks

You've only got two cables to deal with: a mike cable and a headphone cable. You don't need a snake or headphone amp. Just run the two cables. You might need to make yourself up a long headphone extension cable though, to get from studio out to booth.

Thanks for that.

Ideally I would like the booth user to be able to adjust their headphone level. he studio out is an L + R stereo pair, but I guess I could just use a y cable for that.

Your option would definately work, but I thought there might be a bit of kit that was specifically for this purpose in a small booth, i.e. a headphone amp for one i suppose.

Cheers

Multi-output headphone amps are mot expensive units these days. You might as well get something like the Behringer HA4700 and have a bonus with the extra flexibility you get.

Thanks again for the input on this Gecko.

Definately one to consider. I think Il just go for the smallest headphone amp I can find similar to what youve suggested. The booth is only the size of a phone box, so the smaller the better.

Thanks again.
