hey this is my first real time behind a mixing console and I have a two questions:
1) I've got a kick drum going into channel 12, a snare into channel 13. I want to bus them to channel 8. how do I do this? do I send them to a subgroup? if so, how do I get the subgoup to become the input at...
I've bought two freaking otari remotes on ebay and neither of them work with my 8 track.
I have:
otari mx-5050 mk III 1/2" 8 track
I bought:
otari 127 remote locater
otari 116 remote locater
neither of them work with my machine!
also, if anyone would like to buy them, message me. the 116...
super newbie question:
I've got about four mics on a guitar amp placed all over the room. it's all running into my mixer and I want to sum everything to one track on my otari 8 track.
my question is, since my mixer is stereo, should I pan everything to one left or right channel and use that...

I've been recording with pro tools for about six years now and finally made the jump to analog. it's the sound I was going for originally but assumed analog was too difficult to learn, too expensive, and the experts are few and far between these days.

so I'm still getting the hang of calibrating and aligning my new tank: otari mx-5050 mkIII, 1/2" 8 track.
is there a way to adjust the bias on this machine?
when I'm recording a 10khz tone @ 0db to each track, the REC BIAS screw doesn't affect the vu meters at all.
am I missing...

I'm new to analog recording. I'm setting up an otari mx5050 1/2" eight track. I just started aligning the machine. however when playing a test tone into the mixer, which is routed to an input on the otari, I'm not getting any signal to tape...?
