    Mix check-in

Posted this elsewhere, but thought I'd toss it up here as well. For some reason, I got the idea to do a hyperactive, power-popish cover of Slim Whitman's "Rose Marie". Sure it's a strange urge, but I suppose it beats a rifle and a water tower. Since it wasn't enough to just have the crazy...

HR member cover: Emeric's Holiday (for real this time)

I meant to post this back in April but net-access went bye-bye for a while. It's close to done, just putting together a final to-do list for polishing it up. First thing I've posted with vocs, so there's a lot of 'em to compensate. Lemme know what I gotta fix. Original...

Another HR member cover: Emeric's Holiday

I'm working on a cover of one of Emeric's tunes and wanted to get some fresh ears on the mix. I have a short snippet of the first verse up for now, and should be finished with the tune in about a week. http://www.nowhereradio.com/unknown/singles

    Another old one

I was going through old cassettes last night and came across this mix I'd forgotten about. I'm just tossing this out here for fun, no mix advice or anything needed (this is straight from cassette and bad recording techniques all around). A different arrangement of the old Santo and Johnny...

    Another unfinished snippet

I revisited a piece last week and started arranging it as an acoustic trio. This is just a short sketch from the end, which is the most developed part so far. I seem to be writing it "backwards". Eventually there'll be a lot more to it, if I get around to finishing it (it's already taking...

    Waves is ditching the dongle

Oh happy day! Hopefully Cubase will follow suit.

    short sketch

Just a verse sketch, complete with flat vocals. Sensitive-guy soft-rock stuff, I guess. I'm still trying to get used to what I can and can't do with my voice, singing into the mic is still a bit new to me. Drumming is even newer to me, but I'm not as self-conscious about it...

Aren't MP3 DEcoders supposed to be equal?!

Here's a couple of decoder tests I came across recently. Curious as to how well they behave? http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/compliance/ http://privatewww.essex.ac.uk/~djmrob/mp3decoders/ [oops, I originally said "encoder" out of habit] [Edited by pglewis on 08-23-2000 at 17:55]

    Vegas Audio 2.0 test

Some of you might know I've desperately been trying to get out of my relationship with Cakewalk. It's been tough, since I have to admit that Cakewalk does have a lot to offer. But it's abusive to me. I tell all my friends that I just fell down the stairs, but I think they know better. Vegas...

    More old stuff

Show-offy acoustic snippet from a while back (if x-Drive even works any more). Just a short sketch, warts and all... nothing ever gets finished. Drums, bass, and rhythm acoustic: Joe Klug. The drums never got fully hashed out. There are a lot of little shorts like this one in the same...

    any samplitude users?

I'm about to give Samplitude 2496 a test drive. Since I'll only have 2 weeks on the trial, I hope to find a few experienced users in case I get stuck.

    A new rough sketch

Some more depressing Tryphtopan stuff. We haven't even finished the first batch of demo stuff and Austin has at least a CD's worth of other material recorded that we haven't dug into. Despite that, we recorded something brand new the other night. I've been getting great advice from everyone...

    Monkey's Audio update

For those using Monkey's Audio, the 3.41 update is out. For those of you who haven't heard of it, Monkey's Audio Compression (MAC for short) is a free Win32 lossless compression utility for .wav files. Don't confuse "free" with "crap"... it's about the best thing out there, and pretty much...

Should I Chuck The Analogue & Go Digital?

I answered ya in the Cakewalk forum.

Should I Chuck The Anologue & Go Digital?

I'd go digital and hang-on to what you have, personally. Tape has some positive coloration qualities and it might be a nice way to warm up that guitar or vocal track from time to time. The freedom of visual editing and PC recording in general is fantastic.
