    Anyone ever use EZMix?

Don't shoot me! :p I'm using it to get a nice quick "ballpark" sound on a demo I'm trying to do. Does anyone know if there's a way to assign more than one preset at a time to the same track?

    Question about assigning FX

If I assign an effect to the entire track with the FX button where the fader is, but then I decide I want to assign a specific effect to a section of a track and I do that to the individual section, does one "override" the other on that particular section? Or will they both kick in on that part?

Any tips for getting two guitar parts to line up?

I'm doing a track (my first non-"just-screwing-around" one), and I doubled the main riff by recording through two different mics, but I also want to do a third track "manually" through a different amp, different guitar, different sound and tone altogether, but playing the exact same part (yes, I...

    Neo/MR5 monitor cables questions

I just got a pair of Mackie MR5's for my 2488 Neo, and they have inputs for either 1/4" TRS or XLR cables. Are there any pros/cons in using one or the other? I was thinking about trying these: Amazon.com: Mogami Gold-TRSXLRM-10 Balanced Quad Patch Cable 10 feet: Musical Instruments

Converting a WAV file back to MIDI?

Is it possible to do this? In my haste to get a drum track done, I exported it as a WAV file without saving the MIDI to work on later, so all of the work I did is in a single WAV file. I can pull it back up in Reaper, but is there a way to change it back to MIDI to edit it some more?

    Change volume/intensity in real-time?

Say I have a song where, when the chorus kicks in at the 1:00 mark, I want to up the "loudness" and intensity of the drums a little bit for that part of the song only, on my Neo. What is the best/most common way to do that? Adjust the faders during mixdown/mastering? I'm a total newb and haven't...

    Adjusting level for virtual tracks?

I imported a stereo wav file into my Neo (a drum track) and assigned it to 1/2. The level is waaay up there, far more than the "standard" -16db or so...so how do I adjust it down, since I can't just use the normal trim level? Even bringing the faders down super-low to where you can barely hear...

    Mic preamp with a 2488/Neo?

Do I really need one? I'm sure a preamp would do wonders through just about any multi-track, but I mean, is it really a necessity for good quality recordings with the Neo?

The Neo demo is stalking me!!

Well, not really, but here's my problem...I uploaded some stereo drum tracks via USB, assigned them to 1/2, and went to play them and see how they sounded. Not bad. So I plug in my guitar to play along a bit and see how it sounds, and when I raised the 3rd fader...I hear that funky demo guitar...

    Simple guitar input question

Just got started using my Neo today, and I just plugged my guitar straight into the input on the front (which the manual says is for "passive"). Sounded great, recorded some samples, etc...now what if I want to run my guitar from my amp into the Neo? Like, using the emulated output on my amp...

    Recording with effects question

Another stupid newb question: it always seems that most people record dry or raw tracks, then add effects later, but I've always wondered why this is the case. What is the disadvantage of using, say, an external flanger or overdrive pedal and plugging into a multi-track and recording it that way...

    Stupid newb questions here :)

I'm looking to get a decent home recording setup (mostly multi-track/hardware vs. PC-based interface), and I've been looking at a lot of BOSS, Tascam, and Fostex stuff mainly, and mostly 8-tracks. I'll probably just be recording myself, at least for the short-term, playing guitar tracks...
