Technological advancement vs Vintage, and why

Some of these points are opinions, and others are facts... Understand that in this context, these facts can be false, I am only comparing and opinion derived from emotions and facts derived from information.... Be it true or false information.... That being said, I am not a "vintage" person...

    Oh no, help...

My 1970 Gibson J38 broke at the headstock.. This is apparently a rather common phenomenon with classic Gibson's... Anway, i have a great deal of woodworking experience, but little with this type of repair.... I went to a trusted luthier, and we talked for awhile about it... He endded up telling...

Make audio sound like a LP

I second the Izotope Vinyl. It is a free plug-in and has several different adjustments so you can even create a 1930's mono recording that sounds like a tin can (my personal favorite!) Good Luck, Allen.

Any Electronic Repair Gurus In the House?

Finally got it fixed. I had tried the jumpers before posting, obviously to no avail.... I actually had to reconnect the ground with to the under-saddle transducer, reconnect the transformer to the preamp circuitboard, and the ground from the 1/4" jack was loose as well. Once I fixed those, I...

    Advice on techniques

That is exactly what I am using. In fact, the track has the same quality as the normal track except that when I engage the vinyl as an insert, I use the 30's setting so it has the tin-can effect along with the vinyl scratch/noise. Thanks for the advice.

    Advice on techniques

Allow me to paint a picture: Ya pop in a cd and get that scrathcy nostalgiac sound of a vinyl record. The guitar enters with the sound of a '30s's record in mono as do the vocals. At the end of the intro, the song abruptly "fades" into full-range stereo. The theme is an accoustic album of covers...

    Ideal Setup

I certainly appreciate the advice! Thank you for offering your time to help out the ignorant. Several important issues were definitely resoved. I do have a newer computer, but the wife is reluctant about moving into my "studio." It is an HP with a 1.8gig clock, 512 Ram, and CD-R. That is my...

    Guitar amp poll

After nearly 18 months of shopping for an amp, I am STILL in the market. To satisfy my amplification needs until THE amp is chosen, I dropped $500 on a new Line6 Duoverb. I am actually impressed with this amp, although I have always hated both emulators and modellers. The only things I dont like...

How Many Guitars do you own

Still only own 4, but GAS'ing for more!!! Maybe if I stopped spending so much on amps and effects, I would have more for other guitars. Not necessarily interested in owning more guitars for the sake of inventory, but would like to have one guitar for each type of tone I seek. 1970 Gibson J38...

    Ideal Setup

Hello Everyone. I am in the market for a decent home recording platform, but really naive to the whole idea. I have been exploring options, but a few things have really raised concerns regarding my upcoming purchase. If anyone could answer any or all of the following, I would certainly...

    Effects help

Considering all this, I wish some company would make a product like this. Please Digi I totally agree with you on this. I have the RP300 and it was a fun toy especially with headphones. As someone affirmed earlier, you cant get the same sound by simply pluggin in. While I have spent a great...
