Make audio sound like a LP

Hi

Does anyone know of software that has an effect that adds hiss crackle and pops, to make a wav file sound as though it were and old record?

I second the Izotope Vinyl. It is a free plug-in and has several different adjustments so you can even create a 1930's mono recording that sounds like a tin can (my personal favorite!) Good Luck, Allen.
 
Vinyl is one of the best freeware plugs out there. It is very useful. Sometimes I run analog synth lines thru it to make it almost sound like I stole a sample.

ok this question is a little wierd but im in desperate need.
I wanted to download the vinyl plug-in, but it says u need to fill out the survey to get the authentication code. I cant open this servey no matter what i try, it just says 'page cannot be displayed' :mad: im not sure if it will still work if i type in sum1 elses code, but if possible and sum1 pretty pretty pretty plzzzzzzzzz send it to me thru an email or just post it. i desperately need to use it, not for leisure. :o
 
Record an actual vinyl recording, but in the first 5 seconds before the music starts. Hold the needle so it never gets to the music. Record as long as you need it.

EQ your source how you see fit... usually with less lows and less highs, but I'll leave that up to you.

Mix the two signals together and play with different effects over BOTH signals to see what blends them best. Maybe a compressor, or even a slight distortion...

Any digital program trying to sound like and analog circuit is going to fall short and often sounds quite hokey. I compare it to bad fonts in the design world.
