Knock yourself out, reversing the amp in the case wasn't my idea, tons of ppl do it! On that epi forum, MOST of the vj pics I saw are switched..

After a little investigation, I've found you can put jp1 on a switch, but not a pot. Clipping jp1 effectively takes one of the caps out of the circuit, one that affects low-pass. Putting resistance in there won't take the cap out of the circuit so it wouldn't do anything until you hit practically wide open anyway. I'm not gonna bother putting jp1 on a switch cuz I can't see ever wanting that dark original tone over the brighter modded tone.

Hey it also occurred to me... That JP1 mod is a simple snip. Dark tone before, brighter after. Instead of just a snip, put a switch there instead. Or possibly even a potentiometer for kind of a tone control knob. The switch would work for sure, idk about the pot. I will find out...

np. Don't let the '5w' thing fool you tho, I'm not kidding about 'louder than u think'. It's not 'quiet', it's 1/2 as loud as a 100w head. I'm still annoying the shit out of my family I'm looking around for that mod that'll let me switch between a full 5v and .1v, which is more 'bedroom jamming' type volume.

And if you dont know about caps, learn about caps. There's no bleeders on the vj's, so those caps can hold their voltage for a very long time. Something on the order of 450 volts based on what I read, that'll ring your bell!

Hey! About the vj - The tube is a JJ 12AT7.

The JP1 mod is the simplest possible mod, you snip one jumper on the board. It makes the amp brighter, adds presence.

IIRC The standby switch is just a switch wired in series to the wire coming off the T2 connection on the board.

Dont forget to discharge the caps before poking around in there. Unless you like getting zapped to all hell, which some ppl pay extra for
