Who pays for stems and why?

Hey all, Maybe this thread belongs in a different category. I found it tricky to find a suitable category for this question, but anyhoo: Do you purchase stems from other musicians? There are a number of ways to sell your tracks online, and I am wondering who is the customer, and how do you...

EDrums generally, and Roland TD-50kv and Alesis Strike Pro SE specifically

I've been playing drums since 1991 and the last 10 years mostly electronic. I can't stand the electronic cymbals. I do it like they did in the 90's: Electronic drums (pads) and acoustic cymbals.

    How to record percussion (bongos)

I'd use a SM57, or maybe SM58 because of the internal pop screen. Maybe the percussionist isn't exactly a pro?

    R8 - Importing a wav file into a project

This is the procedure on my HD16. Pretty sure it's the same for the R8. Hope I didn't type any mistakes ;) Edit: Well the R8 is maybe different, who knows? 1) Connect the R8 to your PC using a USB-Cable. 2) Enter USB-mode 3) On your PC copy the file (must be mono 16-bit 44.1kHz) to...

How do I make a headset mic line level?

The mic is probably electret so you'll need to feed it a couple of V's for it to work. Laptop mic inputs normally do that.

    No Sound!

I suggest OP tries to get any sound out of Ableton before assuming it's a MIDI problem. Import a wav-file and make sure it plays. If not, install asio4all.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I play an electronic kit w acoustic cymbals. I used to play an acoustic kit for many years, so it's not like I'm not familiar with the difference. There are pros and cons with the electronic kit. I chose it mostly because of practising. Neighbours don't usually appreciate the sound of a drummer...

Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX Hum issue

The ones I got were actually 105C. The original caps were 1000µF 25V, and the rails were at 23,5V. If I've been clever, I would have gotten 35V caps, which would have fit well. I was thinking that maybe it's beacuse line voltage has been increased from 220V since these mixers were made.

Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX Hum issue

I've been having this intermittent issue with hum in my Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX. A few years ago I had the smaller Soundcraft Spirit Folio 12/2 which developed the same issue. Power supply caps close to voltage regulators that get hot. Easy fix if you're handy with soldering.

    Sound Quality

I think the issue is that when OP is hearing the guitar acoustically and through the phones at the same time, it sounds "better".

VST Reverbs vs Lexicon MPX 550

Thanks for your replies! I think we can conclude that the best ITB reverbs are IR's. @Ujn Hunter I didn't think the Lexicon bundle would be different in terms of latency, but perhaps in terms of the sound I'm after. The thing with online close-to-realtime collaborations is that it requires...

VST Reverbs vs Lexicon MPX 550

From time to time I jam online using Ninjam. I have the dilemma of whether to make a mix of my drums on my analog desk and just record a stereo mix, or to record 8 separate channels and mixing them in realtime in Reaper. There a a few requirements for the latter: 1) I must use low enough latency...

    HD16 HDD swap to SSD

Thanks guys, I'm finding Transcend IDE SSD's on eBay. Seems like the closest match. I bought a couple from China some years ago "KingSpec". They had a tendency to break down after a while, so will avoid them.

    HD16 HDD swap to SSD

Hey all, Some of you might remember that Zoom used to have a user forum on their website https://www.zoom.co.jp. I used to frequent that forum back when I got my HD16. I remember one dude successfully swapping out the HDD for a solid state drive, but unfortunately the tutorial he wrote is now...

    Yep, must be crap.
