I've been playing drums since 1991 and the last 10 years mostly electronic. I can't stand the electronic cymbals. I do it like they did in the 90's: Electronic drums (pads) and acoustic cymbals.

I'd use a SM57, or maybe SM58 because of the internal pop screen. Maybe the percussionist isn't exactly a pro?

The mic is probably electret so you'll need to feed it a couple of V's for it to work. Laptop mic inputs normally do that.

I suggest OP tries to get any sound out of Ableton before assuming it's a MIDI problem. Import a wav-file and make sure it plays. If not, install asio4all.

The ones I got were actually 105C. The original caps were 1000µF 25V, and the rails were at 23,5V. If I've been clever, I would have gotten 35V caps, which would have fit well. I was thinking that maybe it's beacuse line voltage has been increased from 220V since these mixers were made.

I've been having this intermittent issue with hum in my Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX. A few years ago I had the smaller Soundcraft Spirit Folio 12/2 which developed the same issue. Power supply caps close to voltage regulators that get hot. Easy fix if you're handy with soldering.

I think the issue is that when OP is hearing the guitar acoustically and through the phones at the same time, it sounds "better".

A quick testproject with 32 tracks, a bunch of VST's: CPU under 4%, buffersize still at the lowest 48 samples. Could probably handle 100 tracks, but I never have these kind of track counts. The PC is my build, spent very little cash on it.

I run Reaper and JS Convolution Amp at ~2ms. i5 @ 3,3GHz. ESI 1010 interface Nofan CPU cooler, fanless PSU and SSD. Completely silent. Edit: Actually, the latency is 3ms with no amp, with JS Convolution Amp it's 13ms.
