All you need is a 57 (UTube)

Thats a good bit of work in study with a lot of shots of him burying his face in his hands..lol

I found the part where he tests the thickness of spacers and mylar pretty noticeable, I learned something there, interesting.
Its all totally relatable, going down the rabbit hole of sound. Dissecting the Capsule.

I've read others and it seems to me most will say the capsules is the main piece of LDC.
But percentage wise, pie chart analogy, what is the importance of the mics other parts?
example if the Capsule is 50%, then the headbasket is 15%, electronics 15%, transformer or not 15%, body 5%. , ...?

dissecting the Capsule, if the brass ring doesn't matter, and the screw quantitys don't matter much, maybe the key is the thickness of mylar and type and gold thickness and spacer is more important? But he was in the quest of the 251 specifically.

funny though $30,000 251 mic, or a pop-can capsule mic parts.... Id probably start with Avantone and go through WARM level types and be fine.

$30,000, that's the price of a used car these days ! (sarcasm)

For most of the mics in his house, I didn’t hear much difference. But in the studio some were radically different.
