You say it's "slow". How slow are we talking? 15 seconds, 30 seconds? If Audacity is slow to save the file, it's likely because it's a VERY BIG file. Are you using an SSD or a spinning hard drive? A hard drive will be much slower to save the file, but simply saving a file that is several hours long takes a bit of time. If you convert it to MP3 to save space, that takes additional time, as the program now has to process the audio through a compression algorithm.it is still on when i arrive with those twenty some recording.
the problem with audacity is that it it is so very slow to save files and scroll the file it is a pain . the ocenaudio is very quick . but indeed there is no manual . I watched everything on youtube on ocenaudio and nothing talks about a twenty minute stop recording...
Scrolling can be sped up in Audacity by simply changing the zoom which allows the cursor to move further in a shorter time. If you're looking for peaks along a relatively quiet track, they should stand out. You can then simply click on those peak area and zoom back in.
Audacity has been around for many years, and there's a reason it's widely used.. It's reliable. I would try that again. If it takes time to save, then all I can say is have patience, young fellow! Good things come to those who wait.
